Help broadcast the Truth of Christ into Iran

VOM is helping to finance gospel TV broadcasts into Iran 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The gospel is presented clearly in Farsi, the language of Iran. At any given time, three to seven million Iranians are watching the broadcasts. Members of the audience are invited to call with questions or comments.

These gospel broadcasts are producing great results. Recently we met with Iranian Christians who invite friends and neighbors over at the time the broadcasts air, then simply watch the program with them. In this way they have led many to Christ. In the last five years, the satellite TV broadcasts have led 200,000 people to put their faith in Jesus Christ- VOM

“A Gift… to celebrate Idul Fitri”

On January 17th, 2007, Lilik Purnomo, an Islamic extremist admitted to taking part in the killing of three Christian high school girls in Poso in 2005. He also confessed to shooting the Rev. Susianty Tinulele to death in Palu in 2004.

In Purnomo’s confession, he stated “a 24-year-old Islamic extremist known by the single name of Hasanuddin last year admitted planning the murders as a “gift” to celebrate Idul Fitri, a festival marking the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. The beheadings were also carried out to avenge the deaths of Muslims during inter-faith clashes in the eastern province of Central Sulawesi between 1998 and 2001, according to the defendants”.

When we see murder in the scriptures we see that the one initiating or performing the killing has his/her on personal reasons for excavating such a crime, but to look deeper to the spiritual side we always find satan, for he was a murder from the beginning.

Pharaoh’s killing of all the jewish male children while in Egypt. Pharoh’s concern was that Israel would multiply, and it would come to pass that when there falleth out any war, they would joinalso unto our enemies and fight against us and so get them up out of the land. Satan had a different agenda. Exodus chpt.1

Herod’s killing of all the male children 2 years old and under. Herod’s concern was that this new King born in Bethlahem would jeopardize his kingship. Satan had a different agenda. Matt. chpt.2

Pray for our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted by idividuals who are doing the lust of their father, the devil.

Such Love Constrains Them

As a pastor of a small community church, we have followed the persecuted church for some years now. One thing that I am continually amazed at, is her commitment for her Blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. An excellent example of this was seen in the March 2007 of the Voice of the Martyr Magazine. The article was entitled ‘China: In The School of Suffering’

In the article, there were a number of young students that attend the underground Bible school in the remote villages of China. They have forsaken the government approved state religion ‘Three-Self-Church’ for an underground church and Bible school that teaches the unadulterated gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the article it speaks of how worship services and Bible studies are held in the most undesirable environments, often with inside temperatures in the mid to low 40’s.  Yes, not much above freezing! Quite a contrast we would find in most churches in America. Temperatures in the range of 70º – 80º would draw complaints from the most faithful as being too cold or too hot. It really takes very little for the church in America to find something to complain about. In fact it seems to have become the norm… American Christians are some of the most  ‘complaining and ungrateful people’, virtually impossible to satisfy.

One very important thing that I took from the article was not normal and quite condemning when viewed through the eyes of His Spirit. Xiang is a 20-year-old student who spoke of a young married couple from his house church who recently left China for a Muslim country. The reason for their journey was not a business trip or one’s typical summer vacation in a foreign land. The purpose of their trip was to evangelize and share the gospel of Christ with those of the Muslim faith. Xiang goes on to say in the article that they don’t even know the native language of the Muslim country, but they will learn it because they want to share Jesus with the Muslims. As I closed the article and set my heart on Xiang’s comments, it became apparent to me that there is a serious disconnect in the church in America. Xiang and his fellow bothers and sisters possess a commitment for our Lord that is most unusual. “Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake?”I fear the church in America would use the ignorance of the language as the barrier, while in reality her unwillingness to suffer and die for the cause of her Lord is the real crux of the matter. The fact that our brothers and sister in China are willing to die for the cause of the gospel is no obstacle for the tongue. We sit in our lukewarm climate controlled churches with our padded pews and sophisticated electronic systems while our brothers and sister are kindling a fervent and hot spirit for our Lord and His word.  Xiang said that he, “like this young couple will travel abroad after Bible school if called by God”. He said, “he does not want to experience persecution, but he is ready to suffer if necessary”. I am wondering why would the believer in China choose to leave a hot bed of persecution (China) only to engage in a mission that would result in ones death for preaching Christ to the Muslims? Why wouldn’t they long to come to America, the land of liberty where we enjoy the freedom to worship without fear of persecution or opposition?

Hosea 5:15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence [sin], and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early?

Courage, Fuel for the Believer’s Life

Courage is the bridge that carries us from a nominal existence on earth to an inexplicable longing for a heavenly future. Those who fully understand the certainty of heaven’s existence find it easier to exchange their comparably paltry lives on earth for eternal citizenship in heaven. Courage helps us to let go of all we cling to on earth… all the things that make us long to stay here. It takes courage to believe in a life after death. After all, life on earth is all we really know until the moment we die. We are courageous when we launch out in faith, believing Christ has made it possible for us to cross into eternity with Him. Once we have made that firm decision, we can face life with purpose and death with courage.

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain

– Philippians 1:21

To manifest courage, there must be an environment that facilitates such. Is there any wonder that the Church in America does not have to have courage?

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye.

Jesus once said that the Kingdom is taken by violent men – men who understand that in order to love as He loves, to walk where He goes, we must live out all the courage, all the ferocity, all the passion and desire He has given us in our hearts (Psalm 139).

The lives of the persecuted witness this passion, through sharing in the sufferings of Christ. Christian author Ken Gire once wrote that “to us has been given the greatest of all songs to sing. It is not important that we sing it professionally, with great polish, but that we sing it passionately, with great heart.”

This is the story of our lives, as well as the persecuted around the world. We sing to the tune of Grace. We dance to the rhythm of the real life offered to us by Jesus. We join him as his Intimate Allies, as his Friends, being let in on the secrets and treasures of the Kingdom. That is why your prayers on behalf of the persecuted around the world is so crucial, so needed, so desired. Thank you!

"Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me." Martin Niemoller

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this’, does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who guards your life know it? Will not He repay each one according to what he has done?” Proverbs 24:11-12
