The Vial is Filling…

 

God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.  Nahum 1:2-5

God sent Nahum to prophesy against Nineveh, a city He had spared approximately 148 years before, at the preaching of Jonah. Nineveh was a great city with a great sin but they repented at the preaching of Jonah.

Another generation came along that took the nation back to their original sin. A sin so grievous, a nation so rebellious that God told Nahum to tell Nineveh that their wickedness is so great that “there is no healing of thy bruise”. There was no cure for their illness. Sound familiar?

America is a great nation with a great sin. If we do not humble ourselves before God, confess our sins and turn from our wickedness, He will most assuredly take vengeance upon His adversary.

Do not think that because God delays in His judgement that He is slack concerning His promise. He just wants the nation to be aware that they have fully set their heart to sin before He does. So He delays.

Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of. the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Eccl. 8:11

The picture here is as a vial that is filling. When it is filled the contents overflows. God is allowing the vial to fill with sin. When it is filled and overflowing… and there is no healing in thy bruise….then comes His judgement. I have found this principle to be true both individually as well as collectively. Worthy of consideration my friend.

When the judgement does come…. Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. Nahum 1:6

The good news for the believer is- The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. Nahum 1:7

Wonder What Antioch Would Think?

Christian (khris-tee-an-os’)- Christianos

Christ- Jesus Christ

ian- of, relating to, or resembling:

a Christian, that is, follower of Christ.

 

After the persecution that arose about Stephen, the testimony of Christ traveled as far as Phenice, Cyprus and Antioch. We are told that the disciples were called Christians (followers of Christ) first in Antioch. Acts 11:26.

Today, the connotations associated with the name Christian carries many different thoughts.

There are those that think that just because they are born in the United States this places them under the umbrella of the Christian faith, as the United States is often viewed as a Christian nation.

Others take on this politically incorrect ascription because they either presently attend, or at one time in their life have attended a protestant denominational church.

While other don the name simply for fashion purposes, even the wearing of the cross around ones neck is not uncommon place by musicians or those in Hollywood.

Even when Miley Cyrus (alias: Hannah Montana) was interviewed by Barbara Walters, Cyrus said that she would not end up like Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, or Jamie Lynn Spears because she is a Christian.

You see, in our society we can consider ourselves Christian without the commitment and conviction that Christ said His followers MUST have, if they desired to follow Him.

In fact, He exhorted the disciples to count the cost.. Luke 14:25-35, lest they begin to follow and then turn back and walk with Him no more.. John 6:66 

I have given careful consideration to this phenomenon now for a number of years and have come to this conclusion; we do not have to be careful about throwing the name of Christ around or associating (Christ-ian) ourselves with Him, only because it cost us absolutely nothing. 

What if naming the name of Christ could cost you your job, or you placed in jeopardy your home or all of your material possession if you professed faith in His lovely name?

What if you knew your commitment to Christ would cost you your relationship with your family, would you still follow Him?

What if going to church could result in you or your family being dragged out and beaten and if found in a continual practice, you could be imprisoned or even killed. Would you still be a Christian?

Our brothers and sister in China, India, Africa, North Korea,  that walk faithfully with our Lord have this consideration daily. Yet time and time again we find them faithful, sometimes even to death!

For our brothers and sisters that are suffering for the cause of Christ…

“for the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil” 1 Peter 3:12

For those who name the name of Christ in America….

“nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity” II Timothy 2:19

Whatsoever a Society Sows, it Will Most Assuredly Reap

I was watching a news program last night and one of the participants in the conversation made the statement that the national high school drop out rate is 40%. I told my wife, surely this was a slip of the tongue. So I decided to google the ‘high school drop out rate rate in america’.  The first hit was an article by USAToday- Big-city schools struggle with graduation rates, and talking about shocking? One must read!

Embedded within the article is a link to a table showing the graduation rates of the 50 largest school districts in the U.S. This is not only a sad testimony for a nation, but how ’bout one that touts itself as a world leader and one to profile ones society after?

What could possibly be the root of the problem? If we consider the fruit comes from the root, it may help us to see that the root was corrupted along time ago. It did not happen over night but was brought to fruition by a persistent and methodical agenda. Until eventually the fruit it is bringing forth is both corrupt and rotten, one would not dare to pick it.

This is analogous of a message the Lord told the prophet Isaiah to take to his people.

“Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes. And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?” Isaiah 5:1- 4

In the message of the vineyard, God had done everything possible to make the fruit of the vine both plentiful and sweet. Yet the vine yielded wild (corrupted) fruit. Unfit for the taking.

Consider the deed that our society has done to our children in the public school system by removing God and moral indoctrination from its program. It has rendered a fruit unusable in many instances.

Is prayer important for a nation? How ’bout our public schools?

Our only hope as a society, is that it is not too late to till the soil and fertilize the vineyard in hopes that we might turn this terrible tide. If we as nation do not, we will most assuredly drown in its midst.

A guest caller asked her in the segment how she reconciled certain spirituality teachings with those of Christianity.Oprah went on to explain how her view of God changed after hearing a charismatic preacher describe God as “jealous God” in her late 20s. She concluded that by opening her mind to the “hugeness” of God and accepting that He is love helped her to reconcile the two.

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6

Consider the spiritual digression-

  • the wilful rejection of God’s word…
  • the seed of ignorance takes root…
  • the lie is nurtured and embraced…
  • they change the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made liken to corruptible man…
  • they propagate their lie…
  • their doctrine beguiles the ignorant and unstable souls…

What is one to do? Pray that the unstable souls will immerse themselves in the word of God, which is the ONLY resource for TRUTH. For the rest; “let them alone: they be leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

I wonder if the likes of Oprah are in thought here?

Another Christian Martyr in Iraq- V.O.M.

I received a prayer alert from Voice of the Martyrs. Below is an excerpt from the alert.

Every night on the news we hear updates of violence in Iraq. The war continues and commentators debate whether American soldiers should be there or not. We hear little of the positive changes that are happening, but what we do not hear about is the plight of Christian nationals in Iraq. For those who are, or convert to, Christianity, a spiritual war wages every day … not just in Iraq but in all Muslim countries.

The efforts to silence, intimidate, and kill the infidels (all those who are not Muslim … especially Christians) resonates from the mouths and hearts of those devoted to the Koran and to Mohammed. They have no problem killing those who will not join them … even if you are family.

When *Muhammad first converted to Christianity from Islam, he kept his new faith a secret. In fact, the first person he told outside of his wife and son was a Christian named *Joseph. He knew the risks of sharing his faith with others in his homeland of Iraq but felt led to do so anyway. So he then witnessed to his extended family. Following radical and normal teachings of Islam, his family members killed *Muhammad. (*Actual names changed to protect the families.)

*Muhammad’s widow sent *Muhammad’s friend *Joseph an e-mail after the martyrdom of her husband. She wrote: “I have bad news. *Muhammad is dead. Our family killed him for sharing his new faith in Jesus Christ. I miss him dearly. *Muhammad left me two important things: my son and our Bible. I’ll never forget why he died. He died for Jesus. I believe Jesus will help me. Tell the people [other Christians] to pray for me.”

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; [and] them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. Heb.13:3

I can not think of anything else that needs to be said except, please pray for our brothers and sisters that their faith will not waiver.

Oil & Water… It Just Don’t Mix

Christian TV Host ‘Comes Out,’ Gets Support from Church

“The young host of a Christian music television show has come out publicly as a gay man, but to his surprise he has received more encouraging support than expected from the church.”

Can a homosexuals come to knowledge in Christ? Absolutely. So can pedophiles, rapist, murders, and even religious people. The question is can they remain in that habitual practice? I have never seen it……

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”  1 Corinthians 6:9-11

‘And such were some of you….. an emphatic past tense.’ Sanctification! 

“for whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1 John 3:9

 

“He’s not alone as a gay Christian, he says. There are many gay people in the Christian industry, Southworth said, but it’s “hush-hush” and they’re scared to come out, he noted.”

There is no question that the Christian ‘industry’ employees many homosexuals, but it is important to note that the church is never referred to as an industry but an organization, whereby an individual (that repents of his/her sinful condition) that is born again, is baptized (placed) into the body of Christ by the Spirit of God.

Even if the church rejects the clear teaching of God’s word and embraces the sin of homosexuality, one can rest assured the church shall give an account of its error.

 

Raised a Pentecostal, Southworth currently identifies himself as a follower of Jesus and does not affiliate with any denomination. He attends three different churches in Nashville, Tenn., one of which is led by a gay partnered pastor.

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the way thereof is the way of death. One must not be concerned about following Jesus, but very careful not to follow a Jesus that contradicts the word of God, for there is another Jesus, another gospel and another spirit.

Those who are concerned about the welfare of the church in America should pray that there would be a spirit of clarity in the church concerning the sin that is crept in unawares.

Study to show thyself approved unto God. A workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Persecution in Pakistan

In an attempt to grab the land where a church stands now, three Muslim men allegedly incited and led a Muslim mob to attack a church on Tuesday, March 18, in Gajrakh, a Christian neighborhood in the Pakistani city of Gujranwala, during the Holy Week.

The latest church attack has been carried out by Muslim mob to grab the church property, but Pakistani Christians had been fearing attacks on churches, missionary schools and other church properties since staging of the anti-cartoon protests in Pakistan last month following reprinting of sacrilegious caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad by some western newspapers.

According to a story released by the International Christian Concern (ICC) (www.persecution.org) the mob wanted to seize a community centre that belonged to a church in Gajrakh started tearing down the walls of the church.

The mob manhandled Pastor Shairf Bhatti, who appeared at the scene of incident along with a group of Christians, apparently to stop the mob from attacking the church.

The angry mob, according to the story, hurled stones at the church. The local Christians rushed to the scene, forcing the mob to flee.

If this story sounds familiar, it may be that you have read a story very similar in the scripture… 1 Kings 21:1-16 It is the story of King Ahab desiring to take the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

It appears the spirit of Ahab is alive and well today. For our adversary as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour.

A word of encouragement for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan and all of the persecuted world…

“And the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying; Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it. And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.” vs.17-19

God is fully aware of what is happening to His children. He is not unrighteous to forget your works and labor of love, which ye have showed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Pray for our brothers and sisters who are in the fire of persecution. Not that God will take them out, but that He will stablish, strengthen and settle them for the glory of Christ.
