Has Your Faith Found a Resting Place?

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think [of himself] more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3

We learn from a study of God’s word that our salvation is in Christ and Christ alone. In fact the faith to even believe the gospel comes from Christ and Christ alone. But it was this measure of faith to live for Christ that I was thinking.

When Jesus sent for the 12 disciples into the world to take the message of the Kingdom of Heaven, he instructed them to ‘Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,  Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.’

In today’s economy, the prospective missionary sets out on a financial search for commitment in hopes to sustain their service for their Lord. In other words ‘the faith of the prospective missionary begins to rest in the financial supporters’ and less in God.

It was not so with those first missionaries, nor is it for many that are living in the midst of severe persecution. My brothers and sisters who liven in North Korea, China, India, Africa, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc… live every day trusting in nothing more or less than the faithful Lord that wrought their salvation. It is the faithfulness of this same Lord that carries them every day they walk with Him.

Pray for our brothers and sister that are suffering.. “Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body”. Hebrews 13:3
