The Natural Digression to the Unnatural….

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. James 1:13-16

I was reading a post today by a blogger who was talking about coming to grips with their homosexuality and the transition that one must traverse from the futile attempts to thwart these desires to acceptance of ones actions are liken to a journey.

Years passed and I journeyed into pride. It’s a place you arrive at after doing a lot of soul-searching and bearing of fear and pain. I found out you do have to do something to get there, albeit at an emotional level. It is an accomplishment. Pride is a sort of militant fortress you built around your heart to protect you from the bad guys…the people that whisper behind your back, the fundamentalists that condemn you to hell, the government that legislates against you. Pride is a place of fellowship you share with other gays, lesbians, bi’s and transsexuals. Pride is a place you can point a finger back and say, “Dammit, I’m a human being just like you, so lay off.”

The post goes on to say that the transition moves from a seeming radical or “militant” spirit to a spirit of peace and acceptance with ones self and life style….

What I was surprised to learn is that there is a place beyond pride that is not addressed in the media. It is a place of peace with yourself and with your part in the world. When you arrive here, you will find you have fully integrated your sexuality in your mind and with your soul. It is a calm place that does not require fortresses. It just is. When you come to peace, you are free to be yourself at all times and in all places, with all people, without fear or embarrassment or even pride.

I would like for all reading this post to understand that I am not writing this with a condemning spirit; if you could see my heart you would understand this. But when we consider the above scriptures extracted from James, we can see that there is a natural digression to unnatural act.

It begins with the heart (desires). The thoughts and intentions of one’s heart are sincere, but they can be deceiving, “for the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

When the desires of an individual’s heart conflict with the way and word of God it is sin. The best example that everyone of us are familiar with is Adam & Eve.

God said… they disobeyed…. sin brings forth….. death!

We see this same digression, just to a greater degree in the epistle that was written by the apostle Paul to those in Rome.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1:21-27

Man can not make God what he wants Him to be. He is what He is.. God. His word is the mirror of His mind, therefore opposition to the word of God is sin. “Every way of man is right in his own eyes; but the Lord pondereth the hearts”.

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.”                                                             ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
