‘diabolical opposition… religion + spirit of hate’

As a Christian, when I see the brutal persecution against my brothers and sisters simply because of their profession of faith rest in Jesus Christ, it conjures up a bitter spirit within me. This spirit has its roots in anger, but then I remember the words that my precious Lord spoke to His disciples….

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.”

Now this ‘diabolical opposition’ to Christianity is not new. From the time Jesus began his earthly ministry proclaiming the Kingdom of God, he was met with vehement opposition, even from the religious sort.

Why such opposition against a man that did these notable miracles, healing the sick, making the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear, even the dead brought back to life…. yet they took up stones to kill him. Why?

“For a good work, we stone the not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou being a man makest thyself God.”

Now if Jesus was God, then there is no blasphemy. If there is no blasphemy, then the opposition is foolishness, “for if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest happily ye be found even to fight against God”, and only a fool would consider fighting against God.

Now in the above admonition given by the Lord to his disciples, he warned of the ‘hatred of the world’ against him and his disciples, not those associated with religion, but I have found that religion is often the tool used of Satan in his attempts to thwart God’s work….

“I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:37-44

Muslims Want Christian Doctor Hanged Publicly for ‘Blasphemy’ in Pakistan..Persecution.org

For thousands of years we have seen the struggle of the seed that was brought forth of Egyptian (Hagar) and the seed bought forth of the promise through Sarah and have witnessed this vehement hatred of these two peoples against each other. Now we are seeing a merger of of the two yet one spirit as it opposes the gospel.

From the above two articles we can see that Christ was right. His church is still being persecuted by the seed of Abraham? No by Satan… he is just using the seed of Abraham to bring about this diabolical opposition.

I guess the old adage is true…”we see things not as they are but as we are”.

‘blogging for the lost’

Life is full of decisions…. where do I go to school after graduation? do I take this new job? to I buy this or that? have I set aside enough for my retirement? if you died today, what would happen to your family’s future? All of this are important decisions and none more important than preparations for ones future.

A better question, and that of eternal consequences, “if you died today, what would happen to your soul”?

For some this may seem like a trivial question or one that does not require immediate attention, but from the words of James the apostle….

“Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:13-14

___________________________________________________

Being raised in ‘religion’ and have some elementary understanding of the Bible, one of the most eye open truths that I can remember coming through an intimate study of Gods word was the truth about the soul of man.

Man is a spiritual being and created in the image of God….

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23

So really what does all of this mean? Well when one dies, he does not really die. Only his body ceases to give forth life. Once the individual gives up the spirit, the breath stops, the beat of the heart discontinues, and the organs of the body begin to shut down, with this is the decay of the body begins. It returns to what it was taken from.

“In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.” Genesis 3:19

___________________________________________________

But this is not true with the soul. It never dies. Back to my child hood misconception, I thought only those who believed the word of God and accepted God’s salvation in Jesus Christ would live forever in heave with him. But careful study of the scripture taught me that every soul will live for eternity. Consider the rich man and Lazarus….

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:19-31

Now the purpose of the story that Christ gave us about these two men tells us that death is NOT the end. It is the beginning of an eternal abode.

The story speaks only to the eternal existence of the soul not what determines the place of its abode. For that is found only in trusting what the word of God says about our sin and His salvation!

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up.

Congress Draws Criticism Over First Pro-Gay Caucus-The Christian Post

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified [him] not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Romans 1: 18-32

In 760 BC God sent the prophet Jonah to the great city of Nineveh. The purpose for sending him was to proclaim the pending judgement upon Nineveh because of their wickedness, unless they would repent of their grievous sin.

The entire city repented in sack cloth and ashes and God spared this generation of the judgment proclaimed.

Nahum was sent some 148 years later to pronounce the same judgement upon the great city, but this time there was no opportunity for repentance. In the last few verses of the book of Nahum it says…

“Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them. There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?”

From the example of Nineveh, we can see a couple of things…

  • the first is that God will pity and forgive a wicked nation that turns to him in repentance.
  • the second this is that it is possible for a nation to move so far into sin that there “is no healing of thy bruise”, in other words the sin is so grievous and vile that the only remedy for this nation is God’s judgement.

When a nation finds itself in this condition of spiritual decency, they are in danger of hearing the message that God sent forth from the mouth of his prophet…..

“Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.” Ezekiel 7:3

God gives us a in depth picture of the how broad this gross sin and wickedness did span.

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,  Son of man, say unto her, Thou [art] the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation. [There is] a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof. Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed [difference] between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. Her princes in the midst thereof [are] like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, [and] to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. And her prophets have daubed them with untempered [morter], seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken. The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD. Ezekiel 22:23-31

  • prophets & priest- there was no spiritual direction. The prophets and the priest should have been light (spiritual compass) but there was none so darkness prevailed.
  • princes- those in a position of leadership were ravening the people and the land for dishonest gain. Sounds like our government today in America. Republican and Democrat alike.
  • people- the people were left to their on devise and wicked way. Sin abounded on every front.

My friend, how can we not see that America is immersed in this vile condition today? The men and women that have been elected to a positions of leadership and given the responsibility of making laws that govern our country are liken to ‘the one that is in a position of wisdom and honor’ that King Solomon was referring to in Ecclesiastes….

“Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.” Eccl. 10:1

The congressmen and women that have aligned themselves with and propagated this vile sin of homosexuality are bringing forth a stinking savour. Can you smell it?

‘a condition that is in dire need of help…fools need not apply’

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deut. 6:6-9

Now I can hear the skeptic now, this command was not given to the school or government and at the outset, one would say “this is the responsibility of the parents and not the society”.

To that point I would have to agree. The command was actually given to a people, the nation of Israel and yes from the capacity of a parent it is their responsibility to see that their children are taught the word of God.

But what happens when parents don’t teach their children what is right and what is wrong. If parents don’t teach their children it is wrong to do drugs, what is the responsibility of a society? If a child grows up in a home where violence is a normal part of life, if they grow up and kill someone, would and should society intervene?

I can hear you now, you enemy of the cross, you are saying this is rubbish and foolishness and really no comparison at all. If that is your thoughts, why don’t you tell me how is our society going to straighten out the mess in the public school system in America where God has been completely booted out? I bet you don’t even have the answer!

Martin Luther understood the importance of instilling biblical principles in a nations children….

Thoughts on 21st Century America- Brad Reiches

“The following is a partial synopsis of the judicial processes that have helped, and are helping to eventuate the spiritual and moral bankruptcy of the United States of America:”

1961:  The court held that Maryland could not require applicants for public office to wear that they believed in the existence of God (belief in God was no longer a requirement for public service).  The court unanimously ruled that this “religious test” violated the First Amendment.

1962Engel vs. Vitale, the United States Supreme Court rules that “school prayer is unconstitutional.”

1963:  Ignoring all precedent, the United States Supreme Court rules that “Bible reading over school intercoms is unconstitutional.”

1968:  The U.S. Supreme Court rules that, “the state cannot ban the teaching of evolution in public schools.”

1980:  The U.S. Supreme Court rules that, “the posting of the Ten Commandments in schools is unconstitutional.”

1985:  The U.S. Supreme Court finds that, “a state law enforcing a moment of silence in schools had a religious purpose and is therefore unconstitutional.”

1987:  The U.S. Supreme Court finds that, “a state law requiring equal treatment for creationism has a religious purpose and is therefore unconstitutional.”

1989:  The U.S. Supreme Court finds that, “a nativity scene displayed inside a government building violates the First Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional.”

1992:  The U.S. Supreme Court finds that, “prayer at public school graduation ceremonies violates the First Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional.”

2000:  The U.S. Supreme Court rules that, “student-led prayers at public school football games violates the First Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional.”

Please consider this….

The world thinks that the believer like Martin Luther, Mrs Clarke, Brother Brad and myself are fools and weak minded because we believe the word of God. The wisdom of God is foolishness to the world…..

Tell me how foolish our society is for allowing the enemies of the cross to remove God out of the public system. And before you answer look at the fruit of this decision.

And as far as the wisdom of the world is concerned how is man going to straighten the mess out without the help of God? For the fool has said in his heart there is no God…..

I think Mrs. Clarke may be spot on, eh?

‘the seed of suffering yields the fruit of glory’

AFGHANISTAN — In Afghanistan there were only 17 known evangelical Christians in the country before al-Qaeda attacked the United States. Today, there are well over 10,000 Afghan followers of Christ and the number is growing steadily. Church leaders say Afghan Muslims are open to hearing the gospel message like never before. Dozens of baptisms occur every week. People are snatching up Bibles and other Christian books as fast as they can be printed or brought into the country. Asia Harvest International

While browsing the Asia Harvest web site I ran across the above info in the News Section.

We must remember that the Lord is calling our Muslim friends with His glorious gospel as he is Jehovah Witness, Mormons, Hindu, Buddhist, Baptist, Methodist, etc…… the gospel is calling folk out of empty and vain religion everyday to the saving knowledge found only in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name given unto men whereby they might be saved. I should know, cause I was one called out.

Religion does not save, it only bounds. It’s only power rest in rites and duties that find no favor with God. It is a burdensome energy that has only temporal benefits.

What we understand from the news portion of Asia Harvest’s web site is that it is through trial and tribulation, suffering and pain, the gospel has its power. It was only when Stephen, the first New Testament martyr was stoned and Saul of Tarsus reeked havoc on the church, hailing both men and women into prison, that the gospel spread like a wild fire. Not only was the fire of the gospel set ablaze in Jerusalem but was now making its way throughout all the regions of Judaea and Samaria.

It is something that the enemies of the cross have never laid hold to. The hotter the persecution, the more effective the gospel… it is.

The more the church (our brothers and sisters) in Afghanistan is persecuted, the more fruit she shall yield for her Lord. It is a crazy truth and makes absolutely no sense, at least through human intellect.

Martin Luther had found this ‘persecution principle’ true….

“If the devil were wise enough and would stand by in silence and let the Gospel be preached, he would suffer less harm. For when there is no battle for the Gospel it rusts and it finds no cause and no occasion to show its vigor and power. Therefore, nothing better can befall the Gospel than that the world should fight it with force and cunning.”

But when true believers (like Stephen and others suffering for the cause of the gospel) stand face to face with opposition and adversity they find that they stand in His strength and not their own. When they stand upon His word, they shall find it is a firm foundation that has a faithful Saviour that carries us to His glory.

The church in America does not have a clue as to the truth of this principle, nor does it have any desire to serve their faith with such commitment. For ‘the devil has stood by in silence’ while another gospel has been preached in America. A gospel that has no power and caters to nothing more than the flesh. A gospel that will require such tribulation to remove the wheat from the chaff. A fire that shall raise the dross to top so that the true church in America can be purified.

“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.”  John 16:1-3

“God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain.”                C.S.Lewis

‘religion’ nailed Jesus to the cross…. what will it do tomorrow?

Religious Americans: My faith isn’t the only way-OneNewsNow.com

WASHINGTON – America remains a deeply religious nation, but a new survey finds most Americans don’t believe their tradition is the only way to eternal life — even if the denomination’s teachings say otherwise.

The article makes the statement that the surveys findings………

  • “can either be taken as a positive sign of growing religious tolerance, “
  • “or disturbing evidence that Americans dismiss or don’t know fundamental teachings of their own faiths”.

So is “religious tolerance” positive. I guess it is contingent on what you perceive religious tolerance to mean.

If ‘religious tolerance’ means that Christianity can coexist with other religions, and not propagate the same violent spirit that we see amassed by other religions against Christianity; Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, etc… then yes that is positive and is biblical.

If ‘religious tolerance’ means that Christianity is restricted from preaching the truth of God’s word for fear it will offend other religions, and even members of it’s own, then one must admit, this is not religious tolerance nor is it a good thing and is most definitely NOT biblical.

Sadly, the later is the course our society has charted. But we should not be surprised, as our Lord stated ……

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. John 15:18-23

Concerning “American dismiss or don’t know fundamental teaching of their own faiths” should not really surprise one. The fundamental teachings of the Jews own faith rejected the Son of God, in fact Jesus rebuked the religion of His day for “transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?”

Religious rites will carry one no further than the grave, but it is faith in a resurrected Saviour that finds that sepulcher empty and the believer alive, believest thou this? If you faith has found a resting place in device or creed, instead of the word of God, you only have the hope of your religion in this life.

It is when the church dismiss or don’t know the fundamental teaching of God’s word that we find it very disturbing. That is what is happening in churches all across this United States. They have supplanted religious creeds and devices for the unadulterated word of God. Religion is more palatable to the flesh you know.

Two important truths that we can glean from the article……

  • Religion does not stand upon the firm foundation of God’s word. It only extracts bits and pieces so it has a religious flavor.
  • Religion knows no boundaries, they can be protestant, catholic, Muslim, Jew, black, white, brown or red. Religion is not contained in a sign or the color of ones skin. It is a spirit that resides in the heart and vehemently opposed to God’s word….

Nearly across the board, the majority of religious Americans believe many religions can lead to eternal life: mainline Protestants (83 percent), members of historic black Protestant churches (59 percent), Roman Catholics (79 percent), Jews (82 percent) and Muslims (56 percent). By similar margins, people in those faith groups believe in multiple interpretations of their own traditions’ teachings. Yet 44 percent of the religiously affiliated also said their religion should preserve its traditional beliefs and practices.

What religion wants you to think is that ‘many religions can lead to eternal life’. If one studies the Bible, they will understand that everyone is guaranteed eternal life. It does not matter whether you have trusted in God’s Christ or not. You have eternal life…. The only difference is where this one will spend it.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
