CAUTION! This post is NOT for the faint of heart. Seriously..

The video below is ‘truly a labor of love’. Members of the Marine Mammal Conservancy in Key Largo, along with volunteers work hard to save “Gauge” a 1,000 lb pygmy sperm whale found stranded in shallow waters off the Florida Keys, in February of 2008.

Rescue teams spent hours moving the whale into a truck and transported the animal to the MMC, where the all-volunteer team at the Conservancy hoped to rehabilitate the mammal and eventually release it.

It is society at its best….. going all out to save the life of this whale. Please take the time to watch and listen to the video and audio.

It is not only the whales that receive special attention in our society. The sea turtles are provided safe haven along the gulf coast of Florida and Alabama.

Protect Sea Turtles: Sea Turtles are an endangered species. They lay their eggs along the Beaches of South Walton. Avoid the use of flashlights near nests in the evening, do not leave beach chairs and other items on the beach overnight (they block the turtles’ path), and keep your distance if you see turtles or eggs. Sea turtles are protected by federal and state law and substantial fines and federal imprisonment may result from killing, harming, or even interfering with a sea turtle

The above blurb is included in the Compass Resorts, Destin Condo Rentals in Destin Florida. The information is included in their Rental and Vacation Information package that goes out to clientele vacationing on any of their properties along the Northwest coast of Florida.

The U.S Endangered Species Act of 1973 stated “No person may take, harass, harm, pursue, hurt, shoot, wound, kill, trap, or attempt to engage in any such conduct., or capture any marine turtle, turtle nest, and/or eggs.

Any person who knowingly violates any provision of this act may be assesses a civil penalty up to $25,000 or a criminal penalty up to $50,000 and up to one year imprisonment.”

Fine Print under Florida Law Chapter 370

“No persons may take, possess, disturb, mutilate, destroy, cause to be destroyed, sell, offer for sale, transfer, molest, or harass any marine turtle nest or eggs at any time. Upon conviction a person may be imprisoned for a period up to 60 day or fined up to $500, or both, plus additional penalty of $100 for each sea turtle egg destroyed or taken.”

To interfere with the nest of these sea turtles can result in substantial fines. So if you plan on vacationing along the gulf coast of Alabama or Florida, you would do well to heed the “PROTECT THE SEA TURTLE WARNING”

The U.S Endangered Species Act of 1973 was not the only law that had a 1973 date of origin. ROE vs WADE was also birthed the same year which legalized the murder of unborn children while still in their mother’s womb.

Our judicial system some how reasoned this distinction. It is permissible to destroy the life of an unborn child while still in the protection of the womb, but makes it a crime to fool with the eggs of a sea turtle. I could labor the ignorance of this distinction for hours, but I don’t really think it is necessary, because the justification is inexplicable.

The results of what our society is doing to innocent babies while still in their mothers womb, is not near as honorable as what we are doing for the turtles and the whales, eh?

By now most all of the readers of the post that have made it this far are probably reeling in disgust and possibly even offended by the last four pictures.

They can not be considered the fruit of a societies ‘labor of love’ at least in comparison to the good deeds we have discussed with the whales and the turtles. It is hard for me to understand, except for the fact that it is evidence of sin. How can a society see the value of the turtle and the whale while overlooking one created in the image of God?

You see my friend, that is why society does not like for the pictures to be broadcast for public viewing, because it is the testimony that our society in immersed in a grievous sin, and no body likes to be reminded of this fact.

The scripture teaches us that there is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death…….
