‘religion’ nailed Jesus to the cross…. what will it do tomorrow?

Religious Americans: My faith isn’t the only way-OneNewsNow.com

WASHINGTON – America remains a deeply religious nation, but a new survey finds most Americans don’t believe their tradition is the only way to eternal life — even if the denomination’s teachings say otherwise.

The article makes the statement that the surveys findings………

  • “can either be taken as a positive sign of growing religious tolerance, “
  • “or disturbing evidence that Americans dismiss or don’t know fundamental teachings of their own faiths”.

So is “religious tolerance” positive. I guess it is contingent on what you perceive religious tolerance to mean.

If ‘religious tolerance’ means that Christianity can coexist with other religions, and not propagate the same violent spirit that we see amassed by other religions against Christianity; Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, etc… then yes that is positive and is biblical.

If ‘religious tolerance’ means that Christianity is restricted from preaching the truth of God’s word for fear it will offend other religions, and even members of it’s own, then one must admit, this is not religious tolerance nor is it a good thing and is most definitely NOT biblical.

Sadly, the later is the course our society has charted. But we should not be surprised, as our Lord stated ……

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. John 15:18-23

Concerning “American dismiss or don’t know fundamental teaching of their own faiths” should not really surprise one. The fundamental teachings of the Jews own faith rejected the Son of God, in fact Jesus rebuked the religion of His day for “transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?”

Religious rites will carry one no further than the grave, but it is faith in a resurrected Saviour that finds that sepulcher empty and the believer alive, believest thou this? If you faith has found a resting place in device or creed, instead of the word of God, you only have the hope of your religion in this life.

It is when the church dismiss or don’t know the fundamental teaching of God’s word that we find it very disturbing. That is what is happening in churches all across this United States. They have supplanted religious creeds and devices for the unadulterated word of God. Religion is more palatable to the flesh you know.

Two important truths that we can glean from the article……

  • Religion does not stand upon the firm foundation of God’s word. It only extracts bits and pieces so it has a religious flavor.
  • Religion knows no boundaries, they can be protestant, catholic, Muslim, Jew, black, white, brown or red. Religion is not contained in a sign or the color of ones skin. It is a spirit that resides in the heart and vehemently opposed to God’s word….

Nearly across the board, the majority of religious Americans believe many religions can lead to eternal life: mainline Protestants (83 percent), members of historic black Protestant churches (59 percent), Roman Catholics (79 percent), Jews (82 percent) and Muslims (56 percent). By similar margins, people in those faith groups believe in multiple interpretations of their own traditions’ teachings. Yet 44 percent of the religiously affiliated also said their religion should preserve its traditional beliefs and practices.

What religion wants you to think is that ‘many religions can lead to eternal life’. If one studies the Bible, they will understand that everyone is guaranteed eternal life. It does not matter whether you have trusted in God’s Christ or not. You have eternal life…. The only difference is where this one will spend it.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
