‘diabolical opposition… religion + spirit of hate’

As a Christian, when I see the brutal persecution against my brothers and sisters simply because of their profession of faith rest in Jesus Christ, it conjures up a bitter spirit within me. This spirit has its roots in anger, but then I remember the words that my precious Lord spoke to His disciples….

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.”

Now this ‘diabolical opposition’ to Christianity is not new. From the time Jesus began his earthly ministry proclaiming the Kingdom of God, he was met with vehement opposition, even from the religious sort.

Why such opposition against a man that did these notable miracles, healing the sick, making the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear, even the dead brought back to life…. yet they took up stones to kill him. Why?

“For a good work, we stone the not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou being a man makest thyself God.”

Now if Jesus was God, then there is no blasphemy. If there is no blasphemy, then the opposition is foolishness, “for if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest happily ye be found even to fight against God”, and only a fool would consider fighting against God.

Now in the above admonition given by the Lord to his disciples, he warned of the ‘hatred of the world’ against him and his disciples, not those associated with religion, but I have found that religion is often the tool used of Satan in his attempts to thwart God’s work….

“I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:37-44

The persecution against Christ and his body of followers still continues today……..

For thousands of years we have seen the struggle of the seed that was brought forth of Egyptian (Hagar) and the seed bought forth of the promise through Sarah and have witnessed this vehement hatred of these two peoples against each other. Now we are seeing a merger of of the two yet one spirit as it opposes the gospel.

From the above two articles we can see that Christ was right. His church is still being persecuted by the seed of Abraham? No by Satan… he is just using the seed of Abraham to bring about this diabolical opposition.

I guess the old adage is true…”we see things not as they are but as we are”.
