‘killing for profit’

baby in hands

In the most recent reporting period (2006-2007) the non-profit Planned Parenthood received $336 million in taxpayer funds, yet reported a profit of $114 million. OneNewsNow article

OneNewsNow posted this article, Oxymoron: WIC refers women for abortions. Please consider the way that our tax dollars are being spent.

In the article, Jim Sedlak with the American Life League, talks about how the federal funds are a source to propagate such killing among the ‘economical disadvantaged’.

Wonder where the public outcry is by the likes of the Rev. Jessie Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and those so concerned about ‘human rights’. Maybe they are more concerned with the rights of dogs, cats, the whales, sea turtles and other of God’s wonderful creatures, than those made in the likeness of His image, eh?

“Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me”..         Martin Niemoller

Who will speak for those who can’t speak for themselves?

I received a communiqué from the American Family Associations enlightening America about McDonald’s promoting the homosexual agenda, McDonald’s paid $20,000 to become an official “organizational ally and corporate partner” of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and secure a seat on the group’s board of directors. The NGLCC lobbies against laws protecting marriage as between a man and a woman. McDonald’s sponsored the 2007 San Francisco Gay Pride parade.

Lest you think that the footage from the above commercial is the depth of what McDonald’s is supporting. Click on this link [AFA archive] for a little clearer picture as to just what McDonald’s is endorsing. I would warn you that the pictures following this link are VERY GRAPHIC. Some might would question whether they should even be shown, but America needs to know what McDonalds is promoting and children were present at the parades so the damage has already been done.

__________________________________________________

I have always felt that if you let ignorance speak long enough, it will manifest itself…

McDonald’s spokesman Bill Whitman told the Washington Post that those (even Christians) who oppose homosexual marriage are motivated by hate, saying that “… hatred has no place in our culture.”

… and Mr Whitman is trying to convince who, it is about hatred? Bless his heart.

What McDonald’s is promoting is a vile and destructive spirit, yet Mr. Whitman and the likes would have us to think that the issue at hand is a ‘spirit of hate’ and ‘intolerance’ on behalf of Christians.

But just in case you have never seen what ‘tolerance’ looks like consider this post… ‘whatever happened to the spirit of tolerance?’. I guess the old adage is true, “we see things not as they are, but as we are’.

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” Romans 1: 26-27

The following admonition from this same portion of Romans tells us that not only those that do such things are worthy of God’s judgement but even those who have pleasure in them that do them. This is a serious WARNNING America, don’t count this vile abomination a light thing.

‘the church in America is living on beachfront properties’

1433R-944130

In the 20th chapter of the Book of the Acts, we find the final exhortation of of the Spirit of God by the Apostle Paul before leaving Ephesus was for the leadership (elders) of the church to “feed the flock of God over the which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers”. [cf; Acts 20:28-32]

Now I realize as a pastor myself, that there are many functions that the church is involved in, and for the most part they have absolutely no biblical foundation. Now before you email me and bust my chops for this statement please allow me to say that just because they do not have a biblical foundation does not make them necessarily wrong. But if the church is not careful, these extra curricular activities will take precedence over the primary responsibility of the church and that is to edify the body of Christ… “to feed the flock”.

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” Ephesian 4:11-14

Rick Warren has taken some heat from Tom McMahon, president of The Berean Call ministry, concerning pastor Rick Warren’s belief that the church must take the lead in solving the world’s problems of poverty, disease, and war, which cannot be reconciled with the scriptures. [OneNewsNow: Is Rick Warren ignoring sin in search for ‘peace’?]

Warren’s global P.E.A.C.E. plan is an effort to mobilize churches around the world to combat what he calls the five “global giants” of spiritual emptiness, corrupt leadership, poverty, disease and illiteracy.

California mega-church pastor Rick Warren says Christians should not be reticent to work with Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, and even atheists to cure societal problems. Interfaith ‘cooperation’ at Saddleback

If you had no other questions about Warren’s agenda you should question, how are you going to combat ‘spiritual emptiness’ with the Muslims and Buddhists? What spirit are you want to fill the world with?

One other thought worthy of consideration would be, how does Warren think that the answer to society’s ill is something that can be resolved without the Jesus Christ… does he think the Muslims and the Buddhists are going to buy in to this Jesus thing? Or maybe he thinks that if anything can do it, it will be religion, yeah… right.

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27

Now what Rick Warren and his smorgasbord of religion is doing is not a bad thing. If they can go in and reform corrupt leadership all over the world, eliminate poverty, disease and illiteracy, we will all agree that the world will be a better place to live. But what will we have? A world void of poverty, disease and illiteracy run by a bunch of honest folk… what shall a man give in exchange for his soul”?

But imagine this, if you take the gospel of Jesus Christ to a world filled with corrupt leaders, and those living in poverty and illiteracy, and even if they are racked with a devastating disease, then what have we left them with?… “no cloke for their sin”, but a Savior who can atone for that sin”. Now this has ramifications not only in this life, but the one to come….eternity.

‘much needed light for our path’

Thy Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path…

With pastor’s exit, church prays for reconciliation OneNewsNow

After a year of controversy and turmoil in their church stemming from allegations of financial mismanagement, members of a prominent Nashville-area Southern Baptist church have accepted a retirement package for their pastor… One News Now article

By now most have heard or read about the sad condition at the Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville. It appears, at least form the One News Now article, that they have come to a resolution, and a lucrative one I might add.

The purpose of this post was not to air the retirement package that Dr. Jerry Sutton was approved to receive but to consider the atmosphere and prevailing spirit we see rearing its head in the church in America.

Below is an excerpt from the Baptist Messenger posted in August 2007.Two Rivers Baptist Church members voice dissent, pastor seeks reconciliation

The article from The Baptist Messenger reveals that the church was not only a pillar in the community but held national credence both in the religious and political realm…

Two Rivers has been in the national headlines three times in recent years for its hosting of Christian conservative rallies. Last October it hosted a pre-election “Stand for the Family” rally sponsored by Focus on the Family Action where James Dobson, Richard Land and other leaders spoke. In 2005 it hosted “Justice Sunday II,” a rally highlighting court rulings on such issues as abortion and Ten Commandments displays. Dobson also spoke at the event, which was held three weeks before the confirmation hearing of now-Supreme Court Justice John Roberts. Also, in 2005, “Hardball with Chris Matthews” hosted a program at the church focusing on religion’s role in politics.

A ‘mega-church’ with both a traditional and contemporary service….

Sutton said membership has “never been higher,” although “attendance is off a little bit.” The 2006 Annual Church Profile showed that Two Rivers had 6,829 members and an average of 1,573 primary worship service attendance. It also had 137 baptisms that year.

The church has two services: a traditional one and a more contemporary one. Members of the group seeking Sutton’s removal tend to be “older, long-term members” and attend the traditional service, the Tennessean reported.

From all outward appearances it seems a successful church, edifying the body of Christ, while all along there was a cancer growing and festering, just waiting to exude a spirit, a spirit of anti-christ.

We find a spirit that airs its dirty laundry before the world.

The group has launched a website and is seeking to gather enough signatures — which must be at least 10 percent of the membership — to hold a church meeting to vote on whether to remove Sutton, the Tennessean reported Aug. 15. A two-thirds vote would be required, church members told the newspaper. The Associated Press has also reported on the conflict.

The group that launched the web site expressed 8 major issues…

  • “steady decline in membership”
  • “lack of accountability in finances”
  • “poor stewardship of God’s people”
  • “authoritarian style church management”
  • “rapid turnover rate of church staff in the past 10 years”
  • “lavish lifestyle and receptions”
  • “questionable allegations”
  • “serious communication issues”

…. not to mention the politics, the favoritism, division, schism and backbiting.

With no other recourse the situation is left to litigation.

DARE any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?

Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge?

I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?

But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!

Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?

No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren! 1 Cor6:1-8 NKJV

What happens when the ‘flesh’ is the vicar of the church?

The petition drive to remove Sutton began in July, the Tennessean said, after Sutton and other church leaders asked that church trustee Frank Harris be removed from membership. Although a majority voted for removal, some members called the vote invalid because church protocol for such votes wasn’t followed. Harris had been critical of Sutton and questioned some of the expenditures. Sutton and other leaders said Harris had been divisive.

“Anyone who voiced opposition to leadership was alienated and lost any ministries they may have had in the church,” Harris told AP. He also said he believes the church has gone from a “people-led church to a staff-run church.”

I’m thinking a Spirit lead church and that leading, based upon the word of God, we probably would not even be reading  this story.

“Wake up people! It seems like nothing separates the church from the world anymore! The church has become a “Business” of buying and selling what people want to hear and believe–TRUTH & REPENTANCE seem to be a thing of the past! What are you being SOLD!” Comment from a poster on OneNewsNow.

I believe the poster has hit the nail squarely upon its head, in that the spirit of the world ‘flesh’ is so prevalent that the Spirit of God has been pushed out of the church. Could this actually happen? Laodicea!

“There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution. In China, the Christians were told, “Don’t worry, before the tribulation comes you will be translated – raptured.” Then came a terrible persecution. Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China say, sadly, “We have failed. We should have made the people strong for persecution rather than telling them Jesus would come first. Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution, how to stand when the tribulation comes – to stand and not faint.”  Corrie Ten Boom

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin”. Hebrews 12:1-4

Pray for our brothers and sisters that are suffering for the cause of Christ in China.
