Oft times we see men and women of God who  are beaten, imprisoned and even unto death for the cause of the gospel. At face value it would lead one to think that the persecuted child of God is in the hands of the enemies of the cross and their fate left to dire circumstances. This is just not the case….

Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness….

These are the things that happened in the life of the Apostle Paul for the furtherance of the gospel. One might would think, “Paul was lucky to still be alive to even write of these events”. It was not ‘luck… but God’s sovereign hand’ that was sustaining Paul and his ministry.

We see God’s perfect will for Paul was to preach in Rome (Acts 23:11). Every event and human attempt to thwart God’s perfect will for the gospel was in the sovereign control of God. Even the elements were at his beckoning and under the sovereign control of the Creator.

Paul eventually made it to Rome and preached before kings and rulers, just as God had promised. Up until the promises of God were fulfilled, Paul was invincible: to the stones and the rods, the perils of water heathen and even his own countrymen. Even the bite of the venomous snake could not thwart God’s sovereign design and purpose for Paul and his gospel.

It appears God is not through with Moses (Choi Yong-Hun). The spirit of Moses is alive and well today in North Korea. This Spirit no man can thwart nor kill. It is invincible!

South Korean national Choi Yong-Hun, known by guards and cell-mates as ‘Mr. Missionary’, has been released from prison in The People’s Republic of China after four years behind bars.

He was arrested in 2003 after helping several groups of North Korean refugees to find safe asylum in South Korea, like a modern day Harriet ‘Moses’ Tubman, who operated an Underground Railroad in the slave states of USA.

After his arrest, Choi defended his activities, saying, “All humans in the world are born to be loved. North Korean refugees cross the border to China to escape hunger. There, they become targets for human traffickers, or they are forced to steal simply to stay alive. The Chinese authorities hunt them down like animals, to collect the bounty paid for every captured escapee. The bounty has recently been increased, to give more incentive to Chinese people to turn them in rather than shelter them. I am committed to helping these people to find the safety and freedom that is every person’s right.”

Choi described how he was subjected to beatings and torture at the hands of the Chinese police. Despite suffering from asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure, he was denied medical care during his four years of incarceration. Pray for Brother Choi and his family as he deals with the considerable mental and physical trauma resulting from his imprisonment.

2007 the 100 year anniversary of the Great Revival of Pyongyang, which was known as ‘The Jerusalem of the East’. This great movement is considered to be the beginning of the remarkably vital Korean church of today. The church of South Korea has declared 2007 as the Year of Prayer for North Korea. In the Seoul Olympic Gymnastic Stadium, before a crowd of 15,000, this proclamation was read:

“As we mark this centenary of the outbreak of the 1907 Pyongyang Great Revival, we pray that we will see love, freedom and peace restored to all of Korea. We call on Christians around the world to join the South Korean Church in earnestly, steadfastly praying for North Korea this year.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom has repeatedly listed North Korea high on its list of ‘countries of particular concern’ for its severe and systematic human rights violations”, including brutal suppression of the Christian faith.

On a recent reconnaissance near the North Korean border, an Autumn Rain International intercessory team said they could see across the border people under great duress. “There was one group labouring in the fields. We couldn’t tell if they were prisoners or not, but they looked really oppressed. Their clothes were nearly black from dirt. A man who seemed to be their foreman was supervising them. We heard the most heart-wrenching wails from a woman – we don’t know why she was crying but the cries were terrible to hear. We could see hardly any trees and the people were cultivating very steep slopes – even slopes on a 45 degree angle. Surely when it rains, all the soil will wash away no wonder they have no food. Their situation seems so desperate. China seems lush by comparison with what we saw.”

Autumn Rain International is committed to praying that the people living in thick darkness in North Korea will see the light of Gospel rise in their land. Through prayer and practical support, we stand in solidarity with the people of North Korea.

The above article is the work of Autumn Rain International. Thank you Autumn Rain for supporting our brothers and sisters over all of Asia.

Please Pray:

  • Brother Choi Yong-Hun will enjoy a spiritual and physical time of refreshment and strengthening as he prepares for future service for our Lord.
  • For all of our brothers and sister that are suffering at the hand of the ‘enemies of the cross’ in China and North Korea.
  • That the suffering will plant seed that will yield the fruit of eternal life for those immersed in darkness.

Malachi’s Ministry- Part IV ‘Plenty Of Blame To Go Around’

“he that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her” John 8:7

Rightfully, the priest (pastors) received the first rebuke from God’s Messenger, but the people (church) were not without fault. If you remember, they had made four promises to God, approximately 14 years earlier at a revival meeting and had failed miserably in each of the four commitments.

It began with their inability to remain a separate and holy people cf. Deut. 14:2 “for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth. God did not want them to worship the false gods of the people of the land and to intermarry would certainly result in them turning from the True and Living God to worship another god. cf. Deuteronomy 7:3-4

[3]neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughters thou shalt no five unto his sons, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. [4] for they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods:

God knew that their only hope to remain true and committed to Him would to abstain from intermarrying. They failed miserably and intermarried the daughters of a strange god and forsook the God of their fathers.

They not only had found themselves in spiritually mixed marriages but to compound the sin, they had dealt treacherously with the wife of thy youth, the wife of thy covenant. Divorce was rampant in the church and there was no conviction concerning the principles from God’s Word; therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife, and they both shall be one flesh- let none deal treacherously against the wife of thy youth. It may have been that they were divorcing their Jewish wives to marry the women from the heathen land. Concerning divorce in the church, the believer must consider his/her own relationship with the God of their salvation the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a great mystery but it is spoken concerning Christ and the church.  cf. Ephesians 5:22-33. Surly we would not want our Beloved to turn us away?

The Spiritual Adultery of the Church

It is true in the church today. As the church dabbles (intermarries) in the doctrine and the philosophies of the world, it will always result in drawing the believer away from Truth and will cause one to forsake his/her allegiance to the Word of God. As the believer begins to give place to false doctrine the results are seen in the strong warnings of…..        2 Timothy 4:1 “the believer will depart from the faith (truth) giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrine of devils.  The believer must understand the main objective of the enemy of God- Satan wants to thwart the truth of God’s Word and supplant it with lies and deception, which he is the father of.

The crumbling foundation of God’s Word is only the beginning of a nations spiritual demise. Once Satan had the nation in a compromising union with the heathen nations, he began to influence the desires of their flesh. They began to focus their time and attention on things other than God, ultimately forgetting the promises and vows they had made unto the Lord. Do you see any similarities in the church in America?
