Malachi’s Ministry- Conclusion ‘Is there Any Hope For The Church In America?’

Yes………

If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14

If we consider the scripture taken from 2 Chronicles 7, we have to say yes… because God’s word is both faithful and true. But careful examination of the above scripture tells us that in order for the promise to come to pass, it will be contingent upon what the ‘people of God’ do.

Its kind of like making preparation for retirement. One can hope that they will have sufficient financial security when they retire, but in today’s economy, we must all agree, that if an individual does not make some preparation to supplement what they are expecting to have in terms of income from social security, they will more than likely be seriously lacking.

We can see from the scripture reference above that the same is true. A society can not find themselves in the mess that we (America) are in and just hope that things will be different (improve) in 10, 20 or 30 years from now. If the scripture is true, and you can rest assured it is, things will not improve just because we hope they will. We are immersed in a mess that only God can straighten out and it will only get better if God intervenes.

The important question facing America is “WILL God intervene?” His word says that he will….. “if my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways”.

I don’t have to work hard to convince any of the readers that our society is saturated in wickedness. Now when we think of the source of this wickedness our minds trot to the pagan unbeliever…. people who don’t go to church, if you please, for they walk according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air. They are subject to the  spirit that worketh in the children of disobedience, who are satisfying the lust of the flesh and fulfilling the desires of the flesh and the mind.  Right? To be honest with you, God is not talking about the pagan unbeliever. Look close and you will see the spiritual link…

‘my people’ shall turn (repent) from  ‘their wicked ways’.

It appears that when the words of 2 Chronicles were penned that the above attributes were characteristic of the people of God. Do you think they are nestled among the church in America today? I do. So really the gross wickedness seen in America is due to the lack of the spiritual influence that God intends the church to be. A church that should be light and salt, has no sustaining witness in our society, at least that lines up with the truth of God’s word. The churches light has no illumination and her salt has lost its savor. Sad but true…

The good news my friend is God is merciful and if we (the church) will become broken and contrite about the sin that is prevailing in the church and confess that sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In order for this to happen the church must prayerfully seek His face and get back to the word of God. If we (the church) does not become the righteous influence God intended, then the society will continue to digress. Once the vial is filled, God must judge…

“He will shut up heaven that there be no rain, and He will set the locusts to devour the land and will send pestilence among His people” 2 Chronicles 7:13
