‘just in case you never seen it; this is what tolerance looks like’

Counselor fired over Christian beliefs-

A professional counselor has been fired for referring a homosexual patient to another counselor for relationship advice. The counselor who was dismissed is a Christian.

Marcia Walden is a professional counselor who worked for Computer Sciences Corporation, a government contractor that provides Employee Assistance Program counselors to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But Walden was suspended and subsequently fired when she referred a homosexual CDC employee to another counselor for advice on the woman’s same-sex relationship.

Does it seem strange that if you tell the homosexual that their lifestyle is an abomination to God (sin) your are being intolerant. Now we are finding that if one refers the homosexual to another counselor because you can not honestly condone the sin, it will not be tolerated. Wonder who’s not be tolerant?

“Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.” Eccl. 8:11

The article goes on to say….

“Jim Campbell, litigation counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), contends Walden is being punished for doing the right thing twice — first, for remaining true to her beliefs; and second, for ensuring that the employee received the requested counseling.” Campbell says Walden was motivated by her religious and ethical beliefs, and she felt she was unable to offer the employee counsel. “…[S]he did what was ethically reasonable. She referred this employee to another counselor who was able to do the job,”

There is no way the Christian can satisfy sin….. it is like trying to disperse water in the midst of oil…. that is why the only option is, to call it what it is, SIN.

Do any of us in America wonder why the Christian does not enjoy the same level of tolerance  that less than 5% of the homosexual community receives?

  1. “Does it seem strange that if you tell the homosexual that their lifestyle is an abomination to God (sin) your are being intolerant.”

Yes. Because you would be. Intolerant, that is.

  2. Thanks for stopping by ‘A Word From Malachi” QuakerDave, I think I hear you but what about what happened to Ms. Walden, do you consider the release of her as being ‘intolerant’? Does there appear to be a double standard?

Please consider an earlier post….. https://bromalachi.wordpress.com/2008/07/04/whatever-happened-to-the-spirit-of-tolerance/ … I would be interested your thoughts on this post.

  3. Government contractors are not free to discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, nation of origin, or sexual orientation. If someone is going to use her/his own personal religious beliefs as part of their practice, or to proselytize as part of “counselling,” that person should be terminated, and perhaps go into private pratice as an explicitly “Christian counselor.” I consider myself to be pretty devout in my Quaker faith, but, as a public school teacher, I am not free to use my classroom as a pulpit for my beliefs.

And please, don’t continue this canard that we Christians are being persecuted. It’s insulting to people’s intelligence. We enjoy more freedom and advantages in this country by being Christians than most people of minority faiths, much to our own doing. You want to see persecution? Try being gay or lesbian, and reading stuff like this.

  4. Thanks for stopping by again QuakerDave and sharing your opinions. I would like to address a couple of things.

The first and most important is that Christian persecution is not a canard. The fact that you are uneducated (no pun intended) to what is happening all across China, North Korea, Africa, Iran, Indonesia, Philippines, etc… only reveals your ignorance to what legitimate persecution is in fact taking place. I should give you some time to do a little more reading on ‘A Word From Malachi’ under the ‘Christian Persecution’ segment. Then come back and tell me it is just a “canard”. If you do, you will not be able to do it with any credibility.

Concerning the article about Ms. Walden and her termination from the CDC:

It appears that you may not have read the article in its entirety and maybe responded with nothing more than the lust of the flesh. My reason for saying this…

Considering your comments as to your liberty to “use your classroom as a pulpit for your beliefs”, and “If someone is going to use her/his own personal religious beliefs as part of their practice, or to proselytize as part of “counselling,” that person should be terminated”, this is not what Ms. Walden was doing at all…

“But Walden was suspended and subsequently fired when she referred a homosexual CDC employee to another counselor for advice on the woman’s same-sex relationship.”

I understand from your bio that you are a teacher of language and literacy (what used to be called readin’ and writin’) at a public middle school in southern New Jersey. You also stated that you have just recentky been licensed to teach social studies. Congratulations. Now what if a kid came to you and requested a deeper understanding of the principles of calculus? I can bet that you would forward that student on to someone who can share in the interest of the student, because if you were to intertain the thought of being support, must confess, you wouldn’t have a clue.

This appears to be what Ms. Walden did. As a Christian she can not comprehend how a man could have a sexual relationship with another man, or a woman with another woman, so she forwarded them to someone who could support them. I can understand Ms. Walden doing this, and I sure do not think that this justifies termination, no more than you should be terminated for not espousing the principles of calculus.

Concerning the double standard in this case and that being the ‘intolerance’ of the Christian while promoting the homosexual agenda, consider this.

“says employers are required by law to accommodate an employee’s religious beliefs, when doing so would cause no hardship.”

There is blatant concern for offending not only the homosexual but also other religions, while trodden underfoot the rights and freedoms of the Christian, and yes, even in America. If one is well read on what is happening in the States, they will find that anything and every thing that has to do with God is taken from not only the public schools, but any state facility, except maybe for Islam.

Do you realize that the ‘5 Pillars of Islam’ are taught in the public school in California and Oregon? Try this link out for some ‘continuing education’ https://bromalachi.wordpress.com/2008/07/05/this-could-never-happen-in-america/. Do you have a problem with this QuakerDave? If a Christian child were to go to the teacher of this Islam and pose deeper questions concerning Yeshua ha Massiach, and the Islam teacher were to forward that student to a Christian teacher that has a better understanding of the Bible, should the teacher of Islam be terminated because he/she could not ”accommodate” the student concerning his/her religious beliefs, that would in no way cause a hardship on the student?

You see Dave; the whole issue is as long as the ‘hardship’ falls in the lap of the Christian it is no big deal. God forbid that there should be the slightest hint of hurting the homosexual, Muslim, atheist, etc… but this is to be expected as the Lord said…..

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also.” John 15:18-23

Do you believe the words of Christ here Dave? Do you believe homosexuality is a sin? You never commented on the post that I referred you to.. https://bromalachi.wordpress.com/2008/07/04/whatever-happened-to-the-spirit-of-tolerance/. Is this a spirit of intolerance?

Thanks for stopping by ‘A Word From Malachi’ Dave.
