World Serve Ministries- China’s Underground Church #1

“There are some among us teaching there will be no tribulation, that the Christians will be able to escape all this. These are the false teachers that Jesus was warning us to expect in the latter days. Most of them have little knowledge of what is already going on across the world. I have been in countries where the saints are already suffering terrible persecution. In China, the Christians were told, “Don’t worry, before the tribulation comes you will be translated – raptured.” Then came a terrible persecution. Millions of Christians were tortured to death. Later I heard a Bishop from China say, sadly, “We have failed. We should have made the people strong for persecution rather than telling them Jesus would come first. Tell the people how to be strong in times of persecution, how to stand when the tribulation comes – to stand and not faint.”  Corrie Ten Boom

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin”. Hebrews 12:1-4

Pray for our brothers and sisters that are suffering for the cause of Christ in China.

‘the gold, but no rainbow’

Those Close to Televangelist Prosper………….

I had always been told that the ‘pot of gold’ was at the end of the rainbow. While leaving work one day, I found where the arc of the rainbow came to the ground in a plot of planted pines. I got out and looked all around, but found neither the gold, not even a pot… I think I now know where it is…. Kenneth Copeland Ministries!

Those close to televangelist prosper. OneNewsNow

NEWARK, Texas – Here in the gentle hills of north Texas, televangelist Kenneth Copeland has built a religious empire teaching that God wants his followers to prosper.

Over the years, a circle of Copeland’s relatives and friends have done just that, The Associated Press has found. They include the brother-in-law with a lucrative deal to broker Copeland’s television time, the son who acquired church-owned land for his ranching business and saw it more than quadruple in value, and board members who together have been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for speaking at church events.

I guess there is some truth to the old adage… “it’s not what your know, but who you know”. The only problem, it is NOT the case in the spiritual realm.

I used to think that the story mentioned in the OneNewsNow article was sad, sad that people could be so deceived as to prosper the false teaching of the likes of Kenneth Copeland.

Then I saw stories about the above mentioned, that revealed these religious shenanigans and instead of the folk coming to their senses, they still continue to be taken in and oft times down right defensive to the deception.

I then started to understand when I read what Jesus said concerning the religious deception of His day……

“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” Matthew 15:14

The message that Kenneth Copeland is propagating is a message that is conducive to the flesh, but will not stand the test when the storms of life of life come, and they will come. The true word of God will!

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward [man] is renewed day by day.  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;  While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-12; 16-18

Source USA Today

I was reading this article ‘Unchurched’ worshipping more, ‘churched’ less? on USAToday and was thinking about the devastation that we see taking place in Christianity today.

For years we have seen a number of trends taking shape in the church in America. It really doesn’t matter the denominational association or the local. This trend is that the greatest attendance in mainline protestant denominations takes place during religious holidays, Christmas, Easter, etc… These congregants are often referred to in religious circles as seasonal Christians’.

Another trend is that historically attendance during the Sunday morning service is the largest with a noticeable drop in Sunday evening services and a very meager showing for a mid-week bible study / prayer meeting.  With the demise in attendance, we began seeing churches that closed their doors for the mid-week service and in most recent years have turned out the lights (no spiritual pun intended) on the Sunday evening services with nothing more than a Sunday morning service.

“There’s often an assumption that people either do attend worship services or they don’t,” said Ellison President Ron Sellers. “But what we find in this study is that one out of every five Americans is attending worship services at least occasionally during the year, even though they are not regularly involved.”

With this most recent survey out of the Ellison Research Group, the churches in America are following in the footsteps of their sister churches in Europe… public worship in Christian churches is becoming a thing of the past.

If we consider the driving force behind the lack of worship in American churches, one might surmise that it is due to the busy life styles that Americans immerse themselves in. Or maybe the church is not catering to the needs of the congregants? Or it might just be that the church is ignorant of the Word of God and does not realize that the Lord of Glory that wrought so great a  salvation is worthy of praise and worship.

Whatever the culprit, I do not think it took God by surprise, therefore the exhortation we find in His word…

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:22-25

Faith healer Todd Bentley called a fraud, false teacher

Faith healer Todd Bentley called a fraud, false teacher-Baptist Press

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (BP)–A new faith healer is making headlines for his claims of supernatural powers, but conservative evangelical leaders warn that Todd Bentley is a fraud and a false teacher.
Bentley, leader of a revival that began in Lakeland, Fla., this spring, is known for his multiple body piercings and tattoos, his violent healing techniques, his claims of angelic visions and “holy” laughter and “holy” vibrating shakes. He even claims to have raised dozens of people from the dead.

In one YouTube video, Bentley, who is Canadian, can be seen kneeing in the stomach a man with stage 4 colon cancer. When the man bent over in obvious pain from the blow, Bentley said, “I had to be obedient to the Lord, sir, but I believe that colon cancer is coming right out of your body now.” In other videos, Bentley explains how he kicked an elderly lady in the face, banged a crippled woman’s legs on a platform “like a baseball bat,” choked a man, “leg-dropped” a pastor, and hit a man so hard it dislodged a tooth — all because God supposedly told him to do so.

Satan is actively using all his seductive resources to brainwash Christians with a view to stifle their most holy faith. Minds are being bombarded by a volley of unbiblical concepts, humanistic philosophies and “every wind of doctrine”, which, for the most part are being
disseminated via television and radio. Unfortunately some of our most prominent preachers and televangelists are unwittingly a part of this bombardment.
This is indeed a critical hour in the history of the Church. The faith of millions of people is on trial. Their faith and their strength depends on the position the spiritual leaders take amidst the avalanche of apostasy. Therefore we cannot watch complacently while warped doctrines are
deceiving the multitudes. Now is the opportunity for all Bible believers to cry out. “Enough is enough!” It is time we aggressively contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints. Travers van der Merwe

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of demons.” I Tim 4:1

‘sin or born to sin?’

The story about a homosexual suing Thomas Nelson Publishers and Zondervan hit the news wire  on July 9, 2008: [WorldNetDaily]. Another story has been posted today by  OneNewsNow

‘Bible’ lawsuit may be sign of things to come’.

For years we have been hearing from the homosexual community that the bible does not condemn homosexuality. They have continually tried to convince society, and more importantly themselves that homosexuality is not an “abomination to God”. Or I wonder if they are just seeking a covering for their sin?

Consider the comments from the Most Reverend Alan Harper….

A senior British Archbishop has called for the Anglican Church to revise its teachings on homosexuality.

The Archbishop of Armagh, the Most Rev Alan Harper, who is one of 38 primates in the worldwide Anglican Communion, said today that if “reason” were applied to the Bible texts that seem to condemn homosexuality, a different interpretation would be found.

“Let us be clear on this. It has not yet been conclusively shown that for some males and some females homosexuality and homosexual acts are natural rather than unnatural.

“If such comes to be shown, it will be necessary to acknowledge the full implications of that new aspect of the truth, and that insight applied to establish and acknowledge what may be a new status for homosexual relationships within the life of the Church.”

He gave as an example the Genesis account of creation, where the Bible says God made the world in seven days and that the first woman, Eve, was made from Adam’s rib. Some Christians believe this account is literally true, but Anglicans have traditonally taken an allegorical approach to this and similar texts.

…. or ‘A theological defense of homosexuality’ by Don Weck

But the prevailing cultural understanding of homosexuality has dramatically changed — enough for me to think that these passages cannot easily be carried over to our modern society. At any rate, more is needed.

To me these Scriptures don’t prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that homosexuality today is inherently wrong or that they encompass our current understandings of what homosexuality is.

…….. Or maybe it is the ‘ploy of using analogy’, as Anti-gay Evangelical Author, Dr. Robert Gagnon points out on his website:

Applying Analogical Reasoning to Bible questions allows us to draw principled conclusions based on the general trajectory of God’s truth revealed in scripture, he says.

“The proper purpose of engaging in analogical reasoning is to assess what categories best fit the issue in question through comparison-cases that share the greatest number of correspondences.”

In the homosexual attempt to justify the sin, they have alleged homosexual couples in the Bible, primarily Ruth and Naomi, Daniel and Ashpenaz, and David and Jonathan. More recently, there has been a proposal that there was a homosexual relationship between the Centurion and his servant who requested to be healed by Jesus….

And of course the all to familiar ‘HOMOSEXUALITY: SIN OR MERE STATE OF BIRTH’. In other words homosexuality can not be a sin “because we are born this way”. If our actions are wrong, it is God’s fault!

Then we see Mr. Bradley LaShawn Fowler come on the scene, and the tide appears to be taking new direction. His defense is not that the scriptures promote the sin of homosexuality, his actions justify the fact that the bible says that it is sin, and that is where his problem lies. So all that the unrepentant sinner can do is attack the Bible.

Bradley LaShawn Fowler of Canton, Michigan, does not like the fact that the Bibles produced by Zondervan and Thomas Nelson Publishers both accurately convey God’s prohibition against homosexual behavior. So he is suing in federal court, seeking $10 million from Thomas Nelson and $60 million from Zondervan

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. John 15:18-23

They not only hate the Son and the Father… they hate His Word and will violently attack it. Do not be surprised my friend. The day will come and shall not delay that they will hate both you and I and will violently attack. Be of good courage and stand upon that faithful word.

‘the Light is growing dim’

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. John12: 35-36

Court says no to prayers in Jesus’ name: OneNewsNow

Rev. Hashmel Turner filed the lawsuit after the mayor refused to recognize him to open the meeting with prayer. Turner, an ordained minister and part-time pastor of the First Baptist Church of Love, had told the mayor he planned to pray in the name of Jesus Christ in keeping with his faith and in defiance of the new policy.

US Senate opens with Hindu prayer
Aziz Haniffa in Washington, DC | July 12, 2007

History was created in the United States Senate at 9.30 am on Thursday, when Rajan Zed, the Hindu chaplain of the Indian Association of Northern Nevada, opened the Senate with a Hindu prayer. Zed, the first Hindu to offer the Senate prayer, began: “We meditate on the transcendental glory of the Deity Supreme, who is inside the heart of the Earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of the heaven. May He stimulate and illuminate our minds.”

Beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

‘tax payer’s money to promote the bible?’

The Public Broadcasting System (PBS), probably the most liberal network in America, will present a program this fall that says the Old Testament is a bunch of made-up stories that never happened. “The Bible’s Buried Secrets” says the Bible is not true. It is scheduled to air on November 18, 2008….. American Family Association

Producer Paula Apsell said: “…It’s (The Bible’s Buried Secrets) designed for intelligent people who are willing to change their mind. …it will give intelligent people who want to read the Bible in a modern way a chance. If we insist on reading the Bible literally, in 25 years, nobody will read it any longer.”

Among highlights of “The Bible’s Buried Secrets”:

• The Old Testament was written in the sixth century BC and hundreds of authors contributed.

• Abraham, Sarah and their offspring didn’t exist.
• There is no archaeological evidence of the Exodus.
• Monotheism was a process that took hundreds of years.
• The Israelites were actually Canaanites.
• The Israelites believed that God had a wife.

Does it seem a little strange that government tax dollars cannot be used to promote the Bible but we have no problems using that same money to berate it, and that publicly.

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12: 44-48
