‘a man of like passions… a reason for praise’

BEIJING, CHINA (BosNewsLife)– One of China’s most outspoken evangelists, Pastor Zhang ‘Bike’ Mingxuan, was free Sunday, August 31, after he and his wife were released from detention by Chinese security officials, representatives said.

Back on August 13, 2008, I posted an article entitled ‘a man of like passions?’. The post was about a servant of the Lord, Pastor Zhang “Bike” Mingxuan, that was imprisoned for traveling across China on a bicycle to evangelize the lost of China.

Pastor Bike, president of the Chinese House Church Alliance, rode his bike more than 10,000 miles, visiting 24 Chinese provinces to introduce nonbelievers to Jesus Christ. Armed with a Bible and his business card, which declared “Believe in Jesus, Earn Eternal Life,” Pastor Bike brought the gospel to thousands of people.

We left our readers with the plead to pray for the release of Pastor Bike and those incarcerated with him. It is with grateful praise unto our Faithful Lord that we post this update, that news accounts from BosNewsLife state that he and his wife have been released.

During our mid-week Bible study, we have been studying Hebrews chapter 11 and are considering the men and women that comprise the the ‘Hall of Faith’.

When we read the accounts of the testimonies of these men and women of faith, we oft times convince ourselves that they are supernatural individuals; spiritual supermen or superwomen if you please. But they are not! They are men and women just like you and me; men and women of ‘like passions’ that believed God and His word.

Just regular Joe’s- who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; Of whom the world was not worthy: they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith.

Men and women who both lived and died in faith, trusting the Everlasting God. Men just like Pastor Bike, who set aside his ‘like passions’ to follow the Passion of his God and Savior.

Thank you Father for answered prayer.

Continue to pray that our Lord will under gird Pastor Bike and the likes that continue to serve our Lord in the midst of fervent opposition.

  1. In the course of this day I will bring you and Pastor ‘Bike’ to the throne as I praise the
eternal God and Father for the men and women He has raised up as a monument to His
faithfulness and a testament to His grace. Paster ‘Bike’ will be in my prayers from this day.
I have bookmarked your page as a source of information of our brothers and sisters around the world, speaking our Savior’s name to those who would accept it, those to whom we cannot tell ourselves. It is so easy here in the states to go days without even the mention of Jesus to
those around us. The etiquette of silence keeps us insignificant in the kingdom.
I applaude your efforts and take pride in your accomplishments.
    Maranatha/your brother in the Lord

  2. Greetings Mical. Thank you for visiting ‘A Word From Malachi’ and taking the time to read of Pastor Bikes testimony, and more importantly keeping him and all of our brothers and sisters lifted up to our Faithful God. He is faithful and men and women like Pastor Bike, that place their trust in Him, will find Him such and His word true. If one will build their life and testimony upon the firm foundation of His word, they shall stand in the midst of the storm.

Thank you brother for your encouraging words and commitment to pray for the body of Christ that live in such persecution.
