‘Isaiah 5:20’

In the fifth chapter of first epistle to the church at Corinth the Apostle Paul addressed a condition of unrepentant sin that was running rampant in the church. 1 Corinthians 5:1-8 The Spirit was saddened that instead of the church having a spirit of remorse, that it was rather the proud. The exhortation that was penned by the Apostle but directed by the Spirit for such a situation was that the one doing this deed “might be taken away from among the body of believers, that he might be turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh”. There are times when those in the church must be removed for the welfare of the entire body.

Now this is a very difficult situation to address in the church but the Spirit of God understands that if sin is allowed to remain in the church and that unchecked by the Spirit of Truth and the Word of Truth, that the same sin will not only flourish, but will spread as doth a cancer, so it is imperative that it be removed for the well being of the whole body.

What we are seeing taking place in the Episcopal Church of Pittsburgh is not what God intended when he said “that the one doing this deed might be taken away from among the body of believers”.

Episcopal Bishop Robert Duncan of Pittsburgh, whose diocese is moving toward splitting from the national church, was ousted from ministry this week by his fellow bishops. The House of Bishops voted 88-35, with four abstentions, to remove Duncan on a charge of “abandonment of the communion of this church.”

We are living in a day when sin is running those who choose to stand upon the firm foundation of God’s word from among the body, and that is oft times coming from behind the pulpits. Sad but true. Isaiah saw the same in the day God sent him to prophesy to Israel.

Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitterness for sweet and sweet for bitter! Isaiah 5:20

What Isaiah saw in his day, we are seeing to day. Sin that has been identified in the black and white is now being accepted and those who attempt to check this unrepentant sin with the truth of God’s word is lambasted until they are removed.

Now it is important to note that this did digression did not occur over night, it grew and festered as doth a cancer. The Episcopal Church is the U.S. branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion, a 77 million-member fellowship of churches that trace their roots to the Church of England. We have seen the downward spiral from this denomination from the truth of God’s word for some years now.

The article goes on to say…

The Pittsburgh diocese said in a statement it will move ahead with the Oct. 4 secession vote despite Duncan’s removal. If the diocese decides to split off, it will align with the like-minded Anglican Province of the Southern Cone in South America, which has already taken in Duncan as a bishop.

Thank the Lord that there is still a firm foundation for Bishop Duncan to stand upon with the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone in South America. This is just more evidence to the apostasy of the the church in America.
