‘spiritual depth of many in the church in America’

Hardly a day goes by that someone is not sending out an email that has a religious flavor. You know the deal, the content contains some shallow religious promises that have absolutely no biblical foundation and then says if your not ashamed of Christ send this to 10 other people.

I have studied the content of these type of emails for some time now and have found a couple of things.

They find their substance in the prosperity arena. Who would be so foolish to propagate a gospel of suffering. So the content of the email makes itself palatable to the flesh.

Another thing is that it has absolutely no biblical foundation. The fact that it is palatable to the flesh is a testimony that it is not of the Word.

One other interesting fact that I have noted, is that the recipients that make up the distribution list include people who go to church and give credence to the Christian faith…. never any unbelievers.

The thing that seems to intrigue me the most is that oft times these emails have been circulated multiple times with distribution list that sometimes number in the hundreds. Though intriguing, it is also sad, sad that the church in America is so shallow as to spiritual truths.

novena [Lat.,=a group of nine], in the Roman Catholic Church, primarily a series of public or private prayers extending over nine consecutive days, especially nine days preceding a feast. They often carry an indulgence. More rarely, a novena extends over any nine days, as nine consecutive Mondays or nine first Fridays of the month. By extension, especially in America, the term is used for a regular series of prayers, e.g., a “perpetual novena” occurring every Friday. Novenas are made especially in honor of the saints to ask their intercession for certain benefits. They are frequent in honor of the Virgin Mary (under her various aspects, e.g., Our Lady of Sorrows), of St. Joseph, of St. Anne, of St. Anthony, and of other saints whose cults are popular, and they are said for the repose of the souls in purgatory. Widespread public novenas are those of Pentecost (beginning the Saturday after Ascension), of the Assumption (Aug. 7-15), of the Immaculate Conception (Nov. 30-Dec. 8), and the “novena of grace,” in honor of St. Francis Xavier (Mar. 3-11). Public novenas must be approved by the church authorities. The practice of novenas is very ancient in the Western Church, and the idea was probably borrowed from Roman paganism. ‘how beautiful are these feet?’

Gayle Williams

Taliban gunmen killed a Christian aid worker in Kabul on Monday, and the militant group said it targeted the woman because she was spreading her religion.

The dual South African-British national worked with handicapped Afghans and was killed in the western part of Kabul as she was walking to work around 8 a.m., officials said.

The gunmen, who were on a motorbike, shot the woman in the body and leg with a pistol, said Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the slaying.

“This woman came to Afghanistan to teach Christianity to the people of Afghanistan,” militant spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid told The Associated Press. “Our (leaders) issued a decree to kill this woman. This morning our people killed her in Kabul.”

The woman’s aid group SERVE — Serving Emergency Relief and Vocational Enterprises — identified her as Gayle Williams, 34, in a statement on its Web site.

“She was a person who always loved the Afghans and was dedicated to serving those who are disabled,” it said.  Associated Press- FOX News.com

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:5-6

"is my name on the list?"

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

“Is my name on the list?” The question was on the mind of every Christian in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after religious police raided a Christian’s home and confiscated a personal computer with information about Christians in the area. “Will they knock on my door next?”

Prabhu Isaac was the first to receive a visit from the mutawa, or religious police. Isaac was a citizen of India, but in Saudi Arabia it is illegal to promote any faith except Islam. Even the display of a cross is a crime. The mutawa was concerned that Saudi citizens were reportedly interacting with the Christians. They refused to allow Isaac to access his nation’s consulate, despite the requirements of international law. The police also questioned his wife and warned her not to have outside contact.
Then another believer, Eskinder Menghis, was arrested after his name was found on Isaac’s computer. Wilfredo Caliuag was next. Shortly after his arrest, Caliuag was sent to the hospital, reportedly for treatment of “heat stroke.” However, visitors said Caliuag’s body was bruised and battered, as if the police had mistreated him.
Saudi Arabia is closed to the gospel, but brave Christians who have taken jobs in the Muslim nation have begun planting seeds of faith in friends and coworkers. The work is difficult, and the risks are great. But the Good News is advancing the kingdom.

The Christians in Saudi Arabia fear that their names will be on the crackdown list of the religious police. Yet before their computers were confiscated and before their names were listed as targets, their names appeared on a different, more important list. The Bible teaches that there is a “Book of Life” in heaven that lists name after name of believers. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be saved. Those whose names are not found will be lost for eternity. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, let your name be marked down by every form of opposition without fear. Are you listed with Christ first and foremost? vom-extreme devotion Oct 24 ’08

‘ten indictments against the church in america’

Ten Indictments (A Historical 21st Century Message) by Paul Washer

Description: Preached Wednesday, October 22nd at the Revival Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Paul Washer delivers a urgent appeal to the Christians and Churches in North America that many have been believing a false gospel and have false assurance of their salvation. He lists 10 indictments against the modern Church system in America. This is a historical urgent message, tell others and spread the message. We need a reformation and revival of a biblical standard!

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:13-15

New Study: ‘Spiritual Deficiency Syndrome’- (SDS)

A survey taken by the Bible Society among churchgoers in England and Wales some ten years ago first picked up on the symptoms that have since be identified with those church goers who have also been diagnosed with what is commonly known today as ‘Spiritual Deficiency Syndrome’ (SDS)

Based on a random sample of regular churchgoers in England and Wales, a survey commissioned by this Society in 1997 showed that 16% – fewer than 1 in 5 – were in the habit of personally reading (or hearing read) something from the Bible every day, and that, including those who did read the Bible daily, only 1 in 4 (25%) read the Bible more than once a week. Overall, just over two-thirds (68%) had read at least something from the Bible during the past twelve months.

However, this meant that nearly a third (32%) had either not read anything from the Bible during the twelve months preceding the survey, or had never personally read the Scriptures at any time in their lives. – Bible Society

Further studies have found that (SDS) has no boundaries. The same symptoms have also been found among Australians who have experienced this same depravation of God’s word.

It might be the greatest story ever told, but Bible literacy is slipping and not just among atheists. Devout churchgoers, especially Catholics, are losing touch with the scriptures of their faith, research shows.

Of those Australians who go to church, 21 per cent read their Bible daily, 14 per cent open it a few times a week and 6 per cent once a week.

But 24 per cent said they read their Bibles only occasionally, 18 per cent hardly ever and 17 per cent said they never read the Bible on their own as a private devotional activity, according to the research, which is based on the 2006 National Church Life Survey of 500,000 people who attended church from 22 denominations.  ‘Confessions: fewer know their bible’smh.com.au

The most alarming studies from Brad Waggoner’s Spiritual Formation Inventory (SFI) have revealed that (SDS) has crossed ‘the pond’ and has not only manifest itself in churches across America, but seems to be thriving; yes, (SDS) is alive and well.

In a new book by Waggoner, ‘The Shape of Faith to Come’, Waggoner surveyed – in May 2007 and again in May 2008 – 2,500 Protestants who attend church on a regular basis. Using an evaluation tool called the Spiritual Formation Inventory (SFI), he evaluated seven domains of spiritual formation among the respondents.

The seven domains measured include..

  • learning truth,
  • obeying God
  • denying self
  • serving God and others
  • sharing Christ
  • exercising faith
  • seeking God
  • building relationships

“The research that led to this book is a wake-up call for anyone who is serious about the biblical mandate to make disciples,” Waggoner said.

Among the book’s findings:
— Only 16 percent of Protestant churchgoers read their Bible daily and another 20 percent read it “a few times a week.”
— 23 percent “agreed strongly” with the statement, “When I come to realize that some aspect of my life is not right in God’s eyes, I make the necessary changes.”
— Among evangelicals, 70 percent have identified their primary spiritual gifts through a class, spiritual gifts inventory or some other process.
— In the past six months, 29 percent of respondents said they shared with someone how to become a Christian twice or more, 14 percent once and 57 percent not at all.
— 47 percent of Protestant churchgoers admitted to just “going through the motions” often during the singing and prayer portions of worship services. One-quarter strongly disagreed that they merely go through the motions.
— Fasting was perhaps the most neglected spiritual discipline, with 80 percent of respondents saying they had not fasted during the past six months.

American Protestants deviate from biblical discipleship standards

The symptoms associated with (SDS) can be seen throughout the church in America. She is wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. But this most recent study has revealed that there is a spiritual deception that is associated with this violent spiritual disease.

When surveyed one year later, the churchgoers evidenced very little change in overall discipleship or spiritual formation. However, a majority believed they had grown spiritually over the course of the year.

“We discovered a problem with these self-perceptions for growth or decline,” Waggoner writes. “Fifty-five percent of our respondents believed they had grown spiritually in the last year. However, based on SFI scores, only 3.5 percent showed a statistically significant level of growth.”

We see the first hint of (SDS) was found in a church in Laodicea around the turn of the first century…

And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and [that] the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelations 3:14-22

In the midst of complex calculations and formulas, Waggoner reports that the No. 1 catalyst for spiritual growth is simple: daily Bible reading. If pastors emphasize Bible reading and church members do it, Christians can expect progress, he writes.

Study to show thyself approved unto God. A workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth!

‘history’s tendencies to repeat itself’

History Of Man:
from bondage to spiritual faith
from spiritual faith to great courage
from courage to liberty
from liberty to abundance
from abundance to selfishness
from selfishness to complacency
from complacency to apathy
from apathy to dependency
from dependency back to bondage
— Alexander Tyler

“The Great Persecution” began in Rome in A.D. 303 under Diocletian. This was a time period when Diocletian published official edicts against Christianity in an effort to destroy the faith. Among the detailed rulings were the following orders:

    Christians holding public office were to be put out of office;
    All accusations against Christians were to be welcomed and received;
    Christians were to be tortured for their faith;
    Scriptures were to be confiscated and burned immediately;
    Church buildings were to be destroyed;
A Christian’s civil rights were to be forcefully denied; and
Presidents, bishops, and leaders of churches were to be arrested in order to sacrifice to the gods.
During this time, a young writer named Eusebius documented the atrocities committed against the early church. A church leader and theologian named Pamphilus greatly inspired him. Pamphilus was arrested and tortured in A.D. 308, but not before he made a significant impact on Eusebius’s life.
Eusebius wrote, “We saw with our very eyes the houses of prayer cast down to their foundations . . . and the inspired and sacred Scriptures committed to the flames . . . and the pastors of the churches, some shamefully hiding themselves here and there.”
Pamphilus’s execution in A.D. 309 did not deter Eusebius from writing the manuscript, History of the Church.

Eusebius was later arrested for his contribution to the Christian cause. However, his life was spared. God protected him so he could continue to write his message to the future church. His writings opened the eyes of future generations to the tribulations the early church faced. His record of the life and death of a legacy of Christian leaders reminds us of the great heritage of Christian heroes. If we can learn today from the courageous faith and undying love of our forefathers who were persecuted, the writings are not in vain. And neither are their sufferings. What are you doing today that might inspire the next generation toward greater commitment? Ask God to help you leave your own legacy.

Could it be the early church is doomed to repeat it’s history?

‘why the church in America is failing’

I understand that this is a very long post but the content is spiritually spot on and too important not to consider. Brother Greg Gordon stands upon the faithful word of God and brings forth the same conviction that the Holy Spirit has pressed upon my heart for some time now. Prayerfully consider as you read and heed the sound of the trumpet.

All things are laid bare before Him of whom we “must” give account. How can we even deceive ourselves why we don’t have revival? It is all around us and in our life’s, hidden sin! There is no escaping that awful and dreadful day Church! God is crying out to you: “I know your works” be zealous therefore and repent. – Greg Gordon

       A   T R U M P E T   B L A S T  T O  T HOSE       T H A T  H AV E  P L U G G E D  T H E I R  E A R S!

Leonard Ravenhill said 20 years ago: “We are on the edge of disaster, we on the edge of wrath.” Oh to realize how close we are to the judgement of God in America and Canada. The last words of Jesus
Christ to His Church included the indictment: ‘I know thy works’ seven times! I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works, I know thy works. All
things are laid bare before Him of whom we “must” give account. How can we even deceive ourselves why we don’t have revival? It is all around us and in our life’s, hidden sin! There is no escaping that awful
and dreadful day Church! God is crying out to you: “I know your works” be zealous therefore and repent. Many will say that we are ready to be judged in North America because of the wicked heathen and unbelievers who are blaspheming the name of God. No! Judgement is coming to America because of a back-slidden, lukewarm, professing church. There is preaching needed that will confront a church that is comfortable in her sins. I would quote to you the saintly Finney: “Away with your milk and water preaching of the love of Christ that has no holiness or moral discrimination in it, away with the preaching of Christ not crucified for sin.” On this very truth a highlander minister stated once: “Bring
me a God of all mercy but no just, bring me a God of all love but not righteous, and I will have no scruples in calling Him an idiot of your imagination.” Alas, the American Church has embraced such a
“idiot” conception of God. Is that hard to hear? It will sound much harder to hear the words from the judgement bar of God: “depart from me, I never knew you.” We are afraid to disturb people these days,
we are afraid to preach against sin, we sit in church and are not moved. The word’s of Alan Redpath ring sadly true today: “In light of the cross of Christ, is it not a scandal the way we live?”

What will it take for the Church of America to truly follow God in denying self and taking up the Cross of Christ? David Ravenhill responded in this way: “I’m hoping personally for some sort of an economic collapse. I know that sounds very extreme, but I believe it’s going to take this to bring the church back to God. The prophet Isaiah said, ‘When the earth experiences Thy judgments the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. Though the wicked is shown favor, it does not learn righteousness.’ (Isaiah 26:9) We have known the continued favor and blessing of God in this nation for years yet continue to live selfish,
self-centered lives. God has simply become a means to an end. We have made Him to be the divine butler who stands waiting to meet our every whim and fancy. It’s time for the church to be ‘about our Father’s business.’ Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m not wanting to go through another “great depression” but I fail to see any other way.”

Ron Lagerquist shares these sobering words: “Revelation 18 describes an economic earthquake that will hit America with such force it will make the Great Depression seem like child’s play. It will be utter destruction in which she will never rise again. A judgment from the hand of God because of a nation that is seeped in adultery and rebellion. A nation that began as a Light on a Hill became a corrupting stench rising up to the altar of the Living God. The moral fabric that would allow America back on its feet from the Great Depression will not be present in this massive economic earthquake. The Beast she rides will devour her flesh so he may rise to absolute world power, filling the vacuum created by
America’s fall. The only warning will be the prophetic voices of the faithful saints of God who will be hated and despised by the world. For the Harlot will be drunk on the blood of the saints. In her intoxication, her mind will be numb to her impending doom. A head–on collision with a wrathful God. If you have built your life on the sands of the kingdom of this world, your hopes, your dreams, your energies and aspirations will mingle with the smoke that will rise up from the utter destruction of

America has been warned relentlessly by many over the last 50 years. One of those voices is David Wilkerson who spoke these words over 20 years ago: “This nation has not repented but, rather, has turned its back on the Word of the Lord, and now God will do what He said He would do. Only a remnant now follows the Lord with all their hearts, living in holy surrender and full communion with Him. There has been no deep heart repentance. We have leaders who are thought of as ‘Christians’ who publicly confess they don’t even know what it means to be born again. Only lip service is given to God, and the popular evangelical Christianity of this hour is nothing but political and lukewarm, at its best. This nation, its government, its churches, gives the Lord Jesus mere acknowledgment but not heart repentance. We have great moral indignation against poverty, abortion, crime, injustice, and that is commendable but we have not enthroned Jesus Christ as Lord and King in our hearts. Millions claim to be Christians, yet only a very small number are entering the straight gate. If God favors America with more time and prosperity, it will only increase the wickedness and rebellion, making judgement even more certain. God promised to preserve America only if it turned from its evil. What more could He
have done for America? Could He have been any more patient then He has been? ‘I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own
thoughts.’ The unthinkable is going to happen to America and parts of Canada, and few will believe it. The prophets of peace and prosperity will reply, ‘God has promised to keep us from the day of wrath,
because we have kept the word of His patience.’ This nation has not kept God’s word, nor has the church. Like in the church of Sardis, there are only a few who have not defiled robes of white. Don’t listen to the prophets of peace and prosperity. They are deceived. They have not heard the true Word of God. They are not of the spirit of Elijah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah. They have not been weeping and travailing over the sins of the nation and God’s people. Who is close enough to God to hear the sounding of His trumpet? The word of judgement has never been heard or accepted by the church or its leaders. Elijah stood alone for God before 400 prophets of Baal. Jeremiah stood alone before the entire religious systems of Judah and Israel. The greatest enemies to his message were the leaders in God’s house.”

Does this shake you believer? Does it move you? Oh I cry with the godly Duncan Campbell for this land: “I would to God that a wave of real godly fear gripped our land.” How calloused we have become, how dry eyed in light of such moral and spiritual collapse in our countries.

Again hear the voice of David Wilkerson warning america in the last days: “America is going to be destroyed by fire! Sudden destruction is coming and few will escape. Unexpectedly, and in one hour, a hydrogen holocaust will engulf America — and this nation will be no more. America has sinned against the greatest light. Other nations are just as sinful, but none are as flooded with gospel light as ours. God is going to judge America for its violence, its crimes, its backsliding, its murdering of millions of babies, its flaunting of homosexuality and sadomasochism, its corruption, its drunkenness and drug abuse, its form of godliness without power, its lukewarmness toward Christ, its rampant divorce and adultery, its lewd pornography, its child molestations, its cheatings, its robbings, its dirty movies, and its occult practices. In one hour it will all be over. To the natural mind it is insanity to come against a prosperous,
powerful nation and cry out, “It’s all over! Judgment is at the door! Our days are numbered!” The Church is asleep, the congregations are at ease, and the shepherds slumber. How they will scoff and laugh at this message. Theologians will reject it because they can’t fit it into their doctrine. The pillow prophets of peace and prosperity will publicly denounce it. I no longer care. God has made my face like flint and put steel in my backbone. I am blowing the Lord’s trumpet with all my might. Let the whole world and all the church call me crazy, but I must blow the trumpet and awaken God’s people. Believe it or not, America is about to be shaken and set aside by swift and horrible judgments. Many other praying believers who have been shut in with God are hearing the very same message – ‘Judgment is at the door! Prepare, awaken!’”

This sobering poem was written recently by Judge Roy Moore in America: “America the Beautiful, or so you used to be. So many worldly preachers tell lies about our Rock, Saying God is going broke so they can fleece the flock. We’ve kept God in our temples, How callous we have grown. When earth is but His footstool, And Heaven is His throne. You think that God’s not angry, That our land’s a moral slum? How much longer will He wait Before His judgement comes? How are we to face our God, From Whom we cannot hide? What then is left for us to do, But stem this evil tide? If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray; Seek His holy face and mend our evil way; Then God will hear from Heaven
And forgive us of our sins, He’ll heal our sickly land and those who live within. But, America the Beautiful, If you don’t then you will see, A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.” The only hope for America is if she seeks God in prayer on her knees. The church of Jesus Christ in
america need to humble herself before a holy God of whom we will all bear account of all the deed done in the body whether good or bad. God has warned His people over and over again will we not hear? will we not “unplug” our ears all face the reality of our sins and waywardness?

A Warning To America (video) by Keith Daniel

A Warning To America (video) by Keith Daniel

Scripture(s): Ephesians 6:10-18

Description: Keith Daniel gives a solemn warning to the Church of Jesus Christ in America, that we must pray before its too late. The church should not use wordly methods to win the world it will not work! The main thrust of the sermon is preached from Ephesians 6:10-18 and the emphasis is that the church needs to get into warfare on their knees. God can still change America and other nations to be God fearing and righteous again.

Deuteronomy 8:10-14

“When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: Lest [when] thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt [therein]; And [when] thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;”

Verses 19 and 20 speak to the nation that forgets God and turns their back on His word and follows after other gods. May God have mercy on America

Deuteronomy 8: 19-20

“And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.”

‘the solid rock that the believer can stand on’

vom- extreme devotion 10.04.2008

We live in a digital age of home alarm systems that rival the complexity of most banks. What we value is clear—our homes and our belongings are too precious to risk being lost. Yet, to Christians living in the sixteenth century, Scripture was their most prized possession. Like the tenacious widow in this story, they considered mere pieces of the Bible worth the cost of their lives. While the times may have changed, the value of God’s Word has not. Our lives must still demonstrate to others that God’s Word is precious—though we are unlikely to die in doing so. Do others know how much or little you treasure Scripture? Can they tell the personal value God’s Word has in your life?

Six men and one widow were taken before the court for committing an extreme crime against the Church of England. They had taught their children the Lord’s Prayer and the Ten Commandments in the English language.

Latin was the only language allowed for biblical instruction in England in 1519. However, the common people spoke English. The believers secretly translated parts of Scripture into English and carefully passed the translations from home to home. But now they had been caught, and they were to be tied to stakes and publicly burned.
The mercy of the court had smiled solely on the widow out of the seven prisoners, and she was allowed to go free. No one protested, for she was alone and had children to care for at home.
A guard named Simon Mourton generously offered to walk the pardoned widow home. As Simon was leading her by the arm, he heard a rattle within her coat sleeve. He pulled from her coat the English translations, the same materials they had been teaching their children. Even though she had just escaped a death sentence, she subsequently refused to part with the translations, believing her children still needed to know the truth of God’s Word. Her fate was now sealed.
Shortly after, the six men and the courageous widow were secured to three wooden poles and were burned alive.

Below are two articles that were posted by malachi. One of the articles was posted in June ’07 and the other September ’08. The facts that are found in both articles reveal the biblical ignorance that the church in America is immersed in today.

This biblical ignorance and spiritual stupor is not new, nor did it happen over night. The seed was planted years ago; we are just now seeing the church manifest it’s fruit. Please consider both of the articles before moving ahead in this article.

There are two things I would like for the readers to consider. The first is the source of the persecution. Where did it come from? Religion! It is true today the greatest enemy of the cross and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is religion. Daily we see the religions of the Hindu and Islam that is vehemently waging violent attacks against The Christ and His body. I am wondering in these last days that we are living, where will the attack come from against the Body of Christ in America? Possibly the same source as in the day of the Church in England.

The thing that is the most alarming to me is that the church in America is not prepared for the testing that many brothers and sisters are called to endure today. We have been immersed in this spiritual stupor for so long, that we would not be able to muster enough conviction to stand in the midst of such vehement persecution.

Why? Because we do not have the same conviction as the ‘pardoned widow’. We can live and play church without even picking up His most precious word on a daily basis. We do not understand that the word of God is a very firm foundation and that the believer will not only stand on it in this life, but even more importantly, the one to come.

. . . . .

“I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food”

‘courage is the foundation upon which the gospel is propagated’

Courage is one of those things people don’t know they have until a situation requires it. At the crucial moment when it is needed, they either have it or they don’t. The same can be said of character—certain situations will definitively reveal whether we have it or we don’t. As a result, character and courage are two things that are difficult to fake. Fortunately, Jesus Christ gives us irrevocable courage and unquestionable character for the times we need it most. We may put on a brave front, but only Jesus can make us courageous. We may have a sterling public reputation, but only Jesus can give us character for those times when no one is looking. Where do you see character and courage at work in your life? vom- extreme devotion 10/4/2008

Communists tell North Korean children that they will suffer a horrific fate if they are ever caught in China. But the children also know that if they are fortunate enough to escape, they should look for a building with the shape of a cross on it to find help. Two North Korean children who managed to arrive at a Chinese church relayed their stories to the pastor.

“My name is Cheng Lee. My sister and I watched our parents starve to death. We managed to walk across the Yalu River while it was still frozen. Once on the other side, my older sister said, ‘You stay here. I have to go on a little farther by myself.’ She never returned.” Cheng is only six.
Hong Jun, an eleven-year-old boy, said, “I want to return to North Korea and tell others about Christ.” Then he cried as he sang:

Oh, Lord, give us the voice of the gospel,
For our beloved brothers the Lord so loved before.
Where are all these gone? The Lord is looking upon them.
Oh, Lord, send us to them, to our beloved Korean brothers,
Oh, Lord, send us to them, to our beloved Korean brothers.
Wherever they are, let them bloom as flowers.

A few months later, Hong Jun was kidnapped from the village and forcibly returned to North Korea. Perhaps he is witnessing to his captors even now.

Pray for Hong Jun and others in the fire of persecution for the cause of Christ “for the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil”.
