‘many in America oppose the war, but condone murder…’

The majority of voters across America have spoken and we now have a president, vice president, both a majority of senate and house of representatives that have values and visions that see no problems with killing babies while safe and secure in their mothers womb.

Surely all of these politicians which have been rewarded with victory at the polls will have to pay back the lobbyist, political interest groups and their constituents with laws that will facilitate the killing of the unborn. So when I read of the pro-life stance of the people of Ireland, it a spirit of confidence to find a people that still values human life.

Ireland facing ‘Roe v. Wade’ of Europe? onenews.com

Ireland’s ban on abortion is being challenged before the European Court of Human Rights in what is being called a “pivotal case.” The Family Research Council and Alliance Defense Fund are defending the country’s right to life and have presented a brief to the court.

LifeNews.com reports three Irish women were refused abortions in Ireland and traveled to Britain to obtain them. They have filed a lawsuit against Ireland, hoping to overturn the country’s pro-life laws that ban abortion, except to save the life of the mother. One of the ladies claims she had an ectopic pregnancy and needed an abortion, while another one was taking chemotherapy when she became pregnant.

Consider the oxymoronic tone of this challenge before the European court……. The European Court of Human Rights is going to decide  whether the unborn child has the ‘right to live’?

The citizens of Ireland voted to ban abortion, and Saunders says that was partly on the basis of religious convictions. “The Irish people are Christians, and they know abortion is wrong, and so they prohibit it in their constitution,” he adds.

It may be that just because the majority have strong moral convictions concerning life, that it does not necessarily mean their convictions will prevail…How refreshing it is to find a people that believes in life. May God give them the direction and courage to stand for life in Ireland.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! Psalm 139:13-17

To reveal how ignorant and blind a society can be……

Ask a child say 5 – 10 years of age to tell you what they see in the pictures accompanying this article and I dare you to find one that will answer anything other than ‘a baby’… Should be a spirit of condemnation for those of us that have believed the lie.

‘prioritization of the baser sort’

Congress’ first priority will be revitalizing the economy. That’s as it should be. The signs are unambiguous that our nation is in recession, just as our national debt is now well over $10 trillion and the current fiscal year threatens to add as much as $1 trillion more in red ink. But revitalizing our economy requires making sound investments. And our children are the most sound investment of all.        Colin L. Powell

Retired Gen. Colin L. Powell served as the 65th secretary of State and as the 12th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I receive a weekly news letter from congress; Roll Call congress.org@capwiz.com where they petition the populace views on hot topic issues in an attempt to assess the thoughts and intents of their constituents heart.

In the November 23.2008 issue, Roll Call gathered some of our country’s leading voices to advise the new 111th Congress and administration on how to address the many serious challenges facing the nation. One of the leading voices to discuss the topic of economic restoration was Colin L. Powell, former Secretary of State. For the full content click on the link below.

To Restore Economic Health, Congress Must Put Children First

Mr. Powell feels that the first and greatest challenge that the 111th Congress will face when the reconvene in January 2009 is how will we revitalize our economy and how this disease stricken economy will negatively impact the “well-being of the children” in our nation.

We don’t hear much about America’s children in our national economic debate. But they are intricately connected to the dire economic consequences we face as a nation — and their well-being must be a critical part of the solution….. excerpts from Colin Powell’s comments: Roll Call- 11.20.2008

This has always been one of the most perplexing dilemmas in our society. The political rhetoric contends that we promote a society that values and promotes the welfare of children yet we are a society that has condoned the killing of some 49,000,00+ babies since abortion was approved as a means of birth control in 1973. Is this perplexing to you my friend? Why is there no outcry for such atrocities?

Powell continues…

Today in America there are more than 13 million children living in poverty and 8 million without health insurance. We have the second highest infant mortality rate among industrialized nations. And for the first time in history, a majority of voting Americans believes the next generation will fare worse than their parents. These are terrifying statistics for a country looking to regain its leading position in the global economy.

Along with poverty, the lack of health care, economic futures where children will fare worse than the parents, is that high schools all across America are experiencing a dismal high school graduation rate, liken to a drop out crisis; Powell says.

Put simply, to move forward as a nation, the 111th Congress must put our children first. This means taking a fresh look at our priorities and ensuring that all children have quality health care, an excellent education and the necessary services to help lift them out of poverty. It means acknowledging that the economic slowdown profoundly affects children, and offering solutions that enable working families to keep their jobs, stay in their homes and prepare children for college, work and life. It means raising awareness of children’s issues and sending a message that our economic future depends on our commitment to investing in our children.

If this prioritization is accurate, as I am sure Mr. Powell and most of Congress feel this is, it is no wonder that our nation is in the shape it is in.

We might do well to heed God’s advise…

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:13-15
