‘December 25th- nothing more than a religious holiday’

We are living in a day when Christ is being attacked on every front. From Christmas trees and parades to Happy Holidays. Every mention of Christ has  conveniently been removed so not to offend. The last bastion on this front is Christmas Day, December 25th, the commemoration of the birth of Jesus, by not only those in America, but all over the world.

Consider the message the angel of the Lord spoke to Joseph….

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

How can one not see the irony…. we are living in a day when we are doing everything within our strength to push God away from us.

Another irony I would like the reader to consider…. celebrating Christmas while completely ignoring the birth of Christ? The thought that there are those in the world that want to take Christ out of Christmas should not alarm us as Jesus told His disciples this would be the case. The world does not know Him and in fact it hates Him. It is my opinion that He would be crucified again if He traversed the earth today. So to make the celebration more palatable to the flesh we have fashioned ourselves a Christmas that can be celebrated by those that don’t even know Jesus the Christ.

The question that I would like for us to consider, is how would the religious folk of this day receive Him if He was in the world today?

There is nothing more that ruffles the spiritual dander of religious folk  than fooling with their religious traditions. Just ask the Pharisees and teachers of religion in Matthew 15. It is rather scary to think that religious traditions could keep one from seeing the very Christ standing before them.

All my years of studying the scriptures, I have found it a very interesting point that God never gave us clear understanding as to the actual date of the Messiah’s birth. Quite the contrary with regard to His death.

It may be that the death, burial and the resurrection is the crux of the matter… the origin and spiritual depth of Christmas… when Christ is born again in an individual’s heart.

The only question one must consider my friend, is has He found room in your heart? If not, what a joyous and memorable Christmas this would be for you it you would receive the gift of salvation through Him.

Christ can be taken out of Christmas, in fact He has by many who profess to know Him as Lord and Saviour, but when He is born again in the heart of an individual, no man can remove Him from that place.

God bless the brothers and sisters that are suffering for the cause of Christ and His gospel.
